The GO! System: Designed for Student Success!

The goal of the GO! Series is to provide you with the skills to solve business problems using the computer as a tool, for both yourself and the organization for which you might be employed. When you use the GO! Series in one of your courses, you use a “system” that includes a textbook, CD, and Companion Website with tools like videos and self-study aides.

Student CD Package

The Student CD package that comes with your book includes a CD to help you complete every project faster!

• Student Videos help you visually learn the skills in each chapter.

• Student Data Files needed to complete the projects in the textbook.

Student Textbook

• Project-based so you learn by creating real world projects, not by reading long pages of text or simply practicing features of an application.

• Very clear instruction directs you first where to go, then what to do, when completing steps of the projects to help ensure you don’t get lost.

• Visual Summary shows you up front what your completed project will look like, and a File Guide clearly shows you which files are needed for each project and how to save the document.

• Lots of large screen shots allow you to check your work and make sure you are on the right track at numerous points in the project.

Student Companion Web Site: www.pearsonhighered.com/go

An interactive web site featuring self-study tools to help you succeed in this course!

• Online Study Guide provides practice of the chapter material by answering auto-graded objective questions.

• Glossary of key terms reinforces terminology as you learn the language of computing.

• Student Data Files needed to complete the projects in the book are downloadable from this site.

5.0 out of 5 stars A review about the book December 3, 2011
By MHoss
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
Okay so this book is a little more on the expensive end. It comes with a cd that has files on it (which is very, very important.) I am currently in my last week of taking the course at my university and let me tell you this. If you are a person that is wanting to learn the basic concepts about Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint then this is the book for you.

All you have to be able to do is read this book and you will learn some of the basic techniques of the book. There isn't anything too difficult inside of the book that is going to take up loads of time. However, each project will take a little bit of time.

If you are someone who is familiar with Office this is going to be a dull book for you. You are going to get bored with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Waste of Time and Energy for Students December 8, 2012
By Michael
Format:Paperback
I was obliged to buy this text for an introductory Computer Science course.

The book consists almost exclusively of poorly worded, difficult to follow, extrodinarily time consuming exercises. These exercises are exaustively repetitive, both in form and content. Most of these exercises are best described as "busy-work."

The text contains a number of arbitrarily selected "key terms" which are defined in vague, indiscriminative language which fails to elucidate concepts in the mind of the reader. The text's poor diction and sentence structure betray the artlessness of its construction. The book makes no effort whatsoever to analyze or discuss practical applications of the information contained within.

The text does, however, limit the responsibilities of the professor. It is didactic enough that students can labor through the exercises with little to no assistance. This is, perhaps, the text's only merit.

This textbook might be considered for adult education workshops, but its extremely high price should deter most prudent students and educators.

Professors, think carefully before including this book as a required text.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and $ July 3, 2012
By Mark
Format:Spiral-bound
This was a waste of money. It was required for class so I assumed there would be more to it, maybe even a copy of Office 2010. NO. It is essentially a workbook used in conjunction with the site so the Professor doesn't have to Interact with students or prepare practical exercises. I had to buy Office Separately and another book...I wouldn't have minded if it were useful or taught me something. I will never buy any MyITLab products or register for any classes that require it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Textbook for class review February 5, 2012
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
This book is a great book that I have to use for college in my Software for Business class. It's been really helpful so far and it was a lot cheaper than what it would have been if I bought it at school. The step by step chapters are awesome and I would recommend it if you are starting Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
