The attractive, easy-to-grasp format and unique focus of this directory are its greatest strengths. The unnamed editors work for Student Services, which also published The Complete Scholarship Book (LJ 3/15/97). Brief entries list 2000 scholarship programs, with icons symbolizing related career objectives or other special criteria. Many scholarship programs in this book are quite exclusive, and few are administered by colleges or funding sources in the Northeast. Reference collections won't need this, but it might circulate well in communities where families put a high premium on college placement for average as well as high achievers. Less comprehensive than The Financial Aid Book (Perpetual, 1996) and lacking the thoroughness of College Costs and Financial Aid Handbook (College Board, 1997. 18th ed.), the book will be useful for home and high school guidance-office purchase.?Joyce Smothers, Monmouth Cty. This book claims to list all scholarships with a "B" GPA or lower. Many of the listings contained school-specific listings. The book didn't even list N.A.A.S. in it. I wasted my money!!

I can't believe they can get away with saying "B or lower"... most are for "B or higher"! What a waste of money!

I can't believe they can get away with saying "B or lower" when 99% of the scholarships listed say "must have a 3.0 or higher GPA" or are listings for scholarships by specific schools! I wouldn't waste my time ordering this book.
