I have been using The Story of the World for history with my children, and wanted a science curriculum that would follow along chronologically with it, so that we could see the progression of scientific discovery in its historical context. I am excited to incorporate this program. I purchased the textbook by Joy Hakim, and this Student Guide for the corresponding worksheets and experiments. I have not purchased the Teacher's Guide, and so cannot comment on its usefulness or necessity.

The book is truly beautiful, and if I needed a *history* of science, this would be a keeper. Created with the Smithsonian, this book is full of art (which I love). However, I can't imagine this working as science curriculum - it's just not.

Most of the focus is on history, some of which is regarding science. Almost devoid of experiments. This student book is completely observational science. Thought provoking, indeed. But, again, not a combination that could be considered curriculum.
