The Glif is a great product. It functions as a tripod mount for the iPhone, and can be placed to hold the iPhone in a number of great ways for hands-free usage. I use it with a gorillapod for time-lapse movies and GPS navigation all the times. The product is very well designed and the finishing is better than I expected. Very worth the $20 price tag!

This product does EXACTLY what you need it to do. The problem is a lot of people don't really understand what they WANT it to do.

My team and I used this little piece to successfully record 3 television commercials on a new iPhone 4s. That's right. This little piece allowed us to fully integrate into our high-end production equipment and successfully get stellar shots that shocked our clients and passer-bys alike that we were using a smartphone to achieve the look and feel we were wanting.

The Glif is probably one of the best engineered pieces I've seen for a sub-$20 accessory on the iPhone. The grip is tight enough that we used the camera in multiple positions, including upside down on a balancing rig to get a low-profile picture field and had zero issues with any dropping of the phone. The greatest part about this is that you can USE your phone for projects like this. I would rather use my phone to capture ground-level or low-profile action shots where we used to be conscerned about getting our professional camera equipment hit or jostled.

Buy this if you are a novice photographer or videographer who wants to get the BEST out of your iPhone. And if you are a professional and want to take a step out of your comfort zone - this is the BEST $20 accessory I could recommend you buy!

There are several other products out there that can function as a tripod mount or a stand for the iphone, but all of them are so clunky and ugly to pair with a device that's so nicely designed and refined. But the Glif not only serves BOTH functions as a tripod mount and stand, it's able to accomplish it with a simple design that's definitely less clunky than anything else I've seen. The Glif fits on the iphone perfectly and is so small that I can carry it around in my purse everywhere I go. I love it so much that I started giving them as gifts for friends and family since they make really unique gifts.

Bottom line, very clever little product. Highly recommend.

bought this item to use with my gorilla pod. it works great. one thing that bothered me but probably won't affect you is that i have a invisible shield back protector made by zagg and when i put it in it crinkled. i'm sure if you're careful when inserting it in the glif then this won't happen to you. overall though 5 stars. great product.

I purchased the Joby mobilepod and was disappointed when it ruined my nice powersupport screen protector. My mistake, I'm just not used to dealing with cases that are incompatible with screen protectors. So, I returned it and bought the glif.

Unlike a couple of the reviewers, I don't think it doesn't have a good grip on the phone. I wouldn't let it grip my phone over a body of water or something, but I don't need to do anything extreme with it (let alone anywhere besides my desk).

I was a little sad to see on Studio Neat's site that about a week after I bought this on Amazon, they released a "plus" version that comes with a second clip that hold the phone even more securely on the regular glif. I think it's a little more, but I'm hoping I can e-mail them and they'll send me one for a couple of dollars. Regardless, this product is simple and works. It gets the "I'd give it 5 stars if it was just cheaper."

Update: I see on their website that you can buy the Glif+ additions for $11. Not the greatest deal for what is just a little piece of plastic and a keyring attachement. I probably won't end up buying this and eventually I would hope they'll drop the price for the entire Glif+ package to $20. I think they're starting to push the limits of the value of such a simple product.

Love the convenience - the "it's always with me" factor. Dislike the realities of using it for actual filming on a normal tripod or other tall support. Spent a couple of hours shooting with it so far and have bumped it and knocked the phone out of the Glif (and onto the ground) twice. Thankfully, both times the phone hit grass and was not hurt. I wan't to use it more than I do - simply out of fear of it dropping the phone. Still giving it four stars - it's simple and useful and I don't have another alternative right now.

This product works reasonably well in its intended use: it grips the iPhone 4 securely when you want to put it on a tripod, and it holds the iPhone at an angle for viewing movies. Just realize that you will have to remove your iPhone from whatever case you might have on it before you can use it for either the tripod stand function or the viewing function. Depending on your case, that can either be a breeze, or a pain. Also, the angle at which the iPhone is held when using it as a viewing stand is relatively vertical, not ideal unless you're one to slouch in an airline seat.

I carry this in my pocket for table top pics where I need to be steady. Works great!

It can balance on a table/counter without a tripod (only with the phone inserted into it), but I just carry a tiny tripod instead.

This is really handy for video on top of a mono-pod.

This simple little device is exactly what I was looking for. I needed an easy way to attach my iPhone 4 securely to a tripod. This does the job with the added benefits of a kickstand and being small and lightweight. Sometimes the simplest designs are the best.

This little thing just does its job. With so many camera apps for the iphone, holding it still is important and now I can do that in a second thanks to the glif. Never seen one of these in a store...
