Product Description

With plenty of room for all your electronic gear, the Studio RTA Producer's Station is the answer to making your workspace more efficient and ergonomic. The main tier is big enough for an 88-key keyboard, and dual 20-space racks on each side keep your rack gear squared away. An 8-space rack holds additional equipment on top and there are dual 8-space CD holders. The upper tier accommodates additional keyboards or a computer monitor. Two smaller sliding tiers hold computer keyboards, and handy cable organizers in back keep them tangle-free and out of the way. Locking casters make the whole system easy to move..

4.0 out of 5 stars Beast of a Beauty, August 4, 2010

Simmer "itsme0209" (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Studio RTA Producer Station Cherry (Kitchen)
This desk is both practical and beautiful. It is very solid and studio and you definitely can't beat the price when compared to other studio desks.

The dimensions of this desk are generic in a good way. I believe it can easily cater to most equipment set ups. I have a Roland Fantom X7 which fits very nicely on this desk, however if you have a gigantic keyboard on this desk it doesn't leave much room for your mixer. So I find myself switching between the 2. I did not install the CD racks because I do not have any CD cases. Instead, I left them off and turned my monitors sideways and they fit perfectly in there. The top shelve is sturdy enough without the CD rack to hold it up.

There's a lot of desk surface area for you to work on which I really love about this desk.
I heard a few people complaining about the racking alignment, but I have installed a few rack mounted hardware without any problems. I guess it is a hit or miss situation.

The desk was fairly easy to put together. Took me a couple hours with my dad, but I believe if I had to I could have done it myself. The desk is very sturdy. I have a lot of equipment on this desk and it is holding up fine. I even had to stand on it one time to attach something to the ceiling. I was a little weary about it, but it held me up (I am 6'1", 180lbs). I don't recommend it, but just giving you an idea of how sturdy this desk it.

The desk also has a wire management system in the back which works pretty well.

A few things I do not like about this desk would have to be:

1- The keyboard tray needs to pull out a little further. You'll find your 'F' keys are hiding under the main desk area which makes them hard to see and press, especially if you have your keyboard is utilizing the tilt legs which mine is. I winded up buying a wireless keyboard and mouse and I find it more comfortable to place the keyboard and mouse on the main desk area when heavy typing and mouse movements.

2- The wheels do not seem sturdy enough. I heard of people's actually breaking, but mines are still going strong. However I have not moved it much since I have had everything placed on it. I do not believe they will hold up well with a lot of equipment on it. Especially if loaded to the gils and/or moving the desk on a carpet.

3-In relation to reason above, since I do not move the desk much because I do not want to ruin the wheels, if you need to change any wires around it is going to be VERY difficult if you have this unit backed up to a wall. It is mainly difficult because of the center and side walls. I found myself using mirrors and basically distorting my arms to reach and hopfully grab a wire needing replacement or relocation. It was very frustrating. Of course, if you do not have this against the wall, more power to you. It will make your life so much easier.

4- The center and side walls seem a little thin which seem like they can easily be bent out of shape. Not a problem if you receive them fine, but one of the sides was bent when I opened the package. The crease wont come out once bent. Wish they were a slightly thicker so this would not happen.

I wish the sides and legs were a darker shade of grey but I am used to it now and it is very beautiful. I even installed some 'under cabinet' lights under the top shelving. This proves to be very useful when you have the lights dim in the room you are working in and need a little more desk light. Also, adds a bit of 'wow' to the desk.

Other than the few qualms above, you really cant beat this price when compared to other studio desks which are tailors to specific set ups and cost 1500+.

This desk is definitely worth the money and I highly recommend based off the price and quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Worlds first affordable "PRO" station, November 29, 2010
This review is from: Studio RTA Producer Station Cherry (Kitchen)
When I purchased mines the two boxes were very heavy and it required 2 guys and a hand truck to move it. When we finally got it home I had the clear out a whole room to unpack everything. When I started to assemble the table I realized that its very simple to assemble. The only tool i used was my trusty black&decker drill and the rest was history. I followed each step and to my surprise I was finished in 2 hours. Then came the big test of strength and weight management. I tried leaning and sitting on the table surface and to my astonishment the table didn't budge or crack. And BTW I am a 320 lbs 6'4 male.
I put my large apple CRT monitor on the top tier and i didn't see no form of bowing or bending. Then I put my tower and subwoofer on the bottoms rack area and it handled like nothing. After putting the speakers, keys, and accessories the table was still able to move and its castors is holding very strong. When I was finished with testing, I realized that this table can compete with Raxxess, KK audio, Middle atlantic, on stage stands and onmiraxx for the fraction of the price.
The only fault I have is that the height can not be adjusted. For us big and tall people leg room is very important for long hourly sessions. Because of the sliding keyboard tray, I only have 34 inch of knee height from the floor up. So to confersate for the lack of knee height, I have to take off my shoes to get an extra inch or two! : )

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the home or project studio!, October 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Studio RTA Producer Station Cherry (Kitchen)
After a lot of research and much agonizing, I decided to purchase the Studio RTA Producer Station for my home studio. I was a bit worried by a couple of things I had read in other online reviews - the possibility of the rack rails not aligning properly and some disparaging remarks concerning the overall quality of the unit's design and construction. Still, I couldn't find another desk close to the price that offered the amount of workspace and utility of the Producer Station, so I placed the order.

The desk arrived within the Amazon-predicted time frame. There was slight damage to the larger of the two shipping cartons, but since the unit was well-packaged, there was no damage to any of the components inside. Once I got everything moved into the bedroom that I am converting to my studio, I began assembling the desk. It took a little over two hours, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well everything fit together and also by the well-written and clearly-illustrated instructions. When I began loading the racks with audio gear, there were no alignment problems. And I appreciated the MANY rack screws that are supplied with the unit.

The desk offers enough room to place my 76-key synth on the main surface next to my audio interface/control surface. The upper shelf easily holds my two 19" video monitors and powered monitor speakers (Yamaha MSP-5s). Once I had all of the equipment in place, I was glad that I opted for the Producer Station rather than one of the slightly smaller units.

I highly recommend the Studio RTA Producer Station. It looks good in the room, easily accommodates a sizeable amount of gear, and is solidly constructed. No complaints here at all. Five stars.
