The large print edition is really a misnomer. This edition contains normal sized print and is very readable.

I started with the regular print edition and had difficulty with the small font used on the main text. It is quite compressed. The large print edition uses an 11 point font and leaves more space between the lines. Both editions use the same page size, so the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Rich information but poor for a Christian
I was very excited about buying the so-much-heard NIV bible. After all, it was a lutheran priest who recommended me this book. My first impression about the NIV bible was that it has plenty of archeological and historical information that, for sure, will support you in giving you a strong background in history that you can use to re-create in your mind the kindoms and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Large Print, September 19, 2001

The large print edition is really a misnomer. This edition contains normal sized print and is very readable.

I started with the regular print edition and had difficulty with the small font used on the main text. It is quite compressed. The large print edition uses an 11 point font and leaves more space between the lines. Both editions use the same page size, so the large print edition has more pages to compensate, but not so many that the book becomes unwieldy.

Surprisingly, I did not have difficulty in the regular edition with the small font used for the extensive footnotes . Still the footnotes are even easier to read in the large print edition. If you're eyes are on the border, or you expect to use this bible past age 40, you'll probably appreciate the large print edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large print just another plus., August 16, 2000
The NIV Study will be the standard in classic study bibles. It was the first bible when I became a Christian 15 yrs. ago, and now I still reference it every day. The leather bound large print is not only compleatly functional for easy reading but feels comfortable, and looks good. My husband Walter uses it as his main Bible. When I first purched it for him he explained "this is the one for me!". The feature of it being indexed adds very much to it's characture A definite must for a home that needs a good reference large print.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved From the Wreckage, June 14, 2000

The NIV Bible has allowed me to read the Bible and understand it for the first time in my life. I have always known God had a plan written for me but it seemed like it was in a foreign language and unreachable.

It is easy to read and the scripture reference which relate to different topics has helped me to see the Bible is all relevant and not just a compilation of unrelated stories. The Old and New Testaments are brought together with clarity with Old Testament prophesies vividly revealed in the New Testament.

As a new Christian, it truly is the Bible I read and study everyday of my life so that I may continue to build a closer relationship with God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Study Resource, April 18, 2000
This review is from: NIV Study Bible, Large Print, Indexed (Leather Bound)
The NIV Study Bible has been an excellent source of information and interpretive help in studying scripture, for my husband and myself.

The charts, timelines, maps and chapter overviews and outlines provide rich groundwork for the reading and study of the Word.

It is my first choice when re-reading and researching a passage that is not clear.

The NIV Study Bible is a must for the library of any student of the Bible, and every believer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zondervan Has Done It Again!, June 17, 2003
As a former publisher of Christian material, a comprehensive study Bible was essential to my profession. Although I have several Bibles, this one with the large print is definitely one of my favorites.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rich information but poor for a Christian, December 2, 2002
I was very excited about buying the so-much-heard NIV bible. After all, it was a lutheran priest who recommended me this book. My first impression about the NIV bible was that it has plenty of archeological and historical information that, for sure, will support you in giving you a strong background in history that you can use to re-create in your mind the kindoms and kings from the the bible.

This is the only good point. From the 20,000 comments, 90% are worthless since they seem to repeat the same verse with different words. Moreover, by giving so much unnecesary information in the comments, one ends up by spending more time in reading those comments that reading the bible itself!!

But this is not the main reason why I rate this book with only 2 stars. The most important fact is that the verses style these NIV guys created are so devily modified from the sacred scriptures, so cold, so lack of heart and so "mathematical", that your feelings for the bible you are in danger to loose.

Just go to internet, find a web where NIV and James King verses are compared, and you will understand why I not only describe this book as bad but as ... too.
