Outstanding book on Colt SAA's, March 26, 2011
This review is from: Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver (Hardcover)
For many years, Keith Cochran's "Encylopedia of the Colt SAA" was the work on the Colt Six-Shooter. His two volume work is still mandatory in the library of an advanced collector, but the Graham, Kopek, Moore book is also truly outstanding, beautifully illustrated, and highly detailed. Be advised, however, that the more commonly encountered civilian models only account for about 1/3 of the book. The in-depth study of military models encompass the majority of the text, with a lot of space devoted to specific orders, contracts, and purchases by the government. Great in identifying cavalry guns, but a bit dry for the collector with more interest in the civilian variations.
Side note- this book is available directly from John Kopec, and if you ask nice, he'll autograph it for you!
