This text is a concise and comprehensive overview of the essence of nursing. I teach a Nursing ReEntry course (a.k.a. Refresher course) and it really helps my RN students to get an overall grasp of what is going on. This is the second edition that I have worked with and remain very pleased.

Anyone who knows me is aware that I am an ABSOLUTE fan of the LPN Thread series because these books are specific to the licensed PRACTICAL nurse. I empathsize on the word 'practical' because it is the root of all nursing, no matter how high you go. What is the sense of reading pages and pages of useless information when you can just get to the point? The study guides are great because the exercises reinforce the learning and application of skills. What is interesting is that I came upon the LPN threads AFTER receiving my license, and although I am finished with school, I made sure that I had textbooks that I can use as a reference at a later date. All students and nurses that want to have a library should consider the entire LPN thread.

This "study guide" is really more of a workbook. It has too many fill in the blank/short answer questions. If you're loooking for a study guide that has practice NCLEX questions this is not the book for you.
