My favorite chapter was chapter 58 because this was the turning point of Elizabeth's and Darcy's relationship. This scene was most exciting because Elizabeth admitted her love for Darcy and accepted his second marriage proposal, after he told her that his feelings from the first proposal were still the same towards her. Also Elizabeth put her pride aside to thank him for helping her sister. It was exciting and a shock because both said they would never marry each other because one was too poor and the other was very rude. Who would have thought that both would put their pride and prejudice aside to be together. Another reason why this chapter was my favorite is because both Darcy and Elizabeth were able to talk to one another about their first impression of each other and that the both of them feel different now because they see one another's true characteristics.
I think that this book would be appropriate for mature age groups that are looking for a good romance novel. This book has complicated dialogue, but it provides an insight into the characters and an understanding of different types of themes in the story, such as love, reputation, class, and courtship.
One literary device that Austen used is characterization, through letters and the actions of her characters. I appreciate this literary device because it gave her readers a more in depth understanding of each character. For example, we got an impression that Mr. Collins is a stuck up man through the letter which he wrote to Mr. Bennet. Another example is the impression we got from Darcy's actions. Darcy helped save Lydia's family name by forcing Wickham to marry her. We saw the kind and caring side of Darcy. He did not have to do what he did because the family was not any of his concern, but he did it to show his love for Elizabeth.
I liked this book and would strongly advocate it because the turn of events in this novel leaves the readers fascinated with the main characters happy ending. Also, the descriptions of the characters and relations with one another truly make this book enjoyable. Austen's Pride and Prejudice is one of the most beautifully written novels of all time.
