Book Description

April 11, 2006 1585622605 978-1585622603 4
Study Guide to Clinical Psychiatry is made up of 256 questions divided into 40 individual quizzes of 5-10 questions each that correspond to chapters in The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Clinical Psychiatry, Fourth Edition. Questions are followed by an Answer Guide that references relevant text (including the page number) in the Textbook to allow quick access to needed information. Each answer is accompanied by a discussion that not only addresses the correct response but also explains why other responses are not correct.
The Study Guide's companion, The American Psychiatric Publishing Textbook of Clinical Psychiatry Fourth Edition, was first published more than 15 years ago. A broad, integrated knowledge of both psychology and neuroscience is the essence of psychiatric practice and the ideal basis for treatment decisions. Psychiatrists are distinct among mental health professionals in that their knowledge and training allow them to be the ultimate integrators of the biological and psychosocial perspectives underlying diagnostic understanding and treatment. This integrative focus is built into the fourth edition of this encyclopedic—and now classic—textbook. Three years in the making, it has undergone more comprehensive and significant change than any previous edition. This densely informative textbook comprises 40 scholarly, authoritative chapters by an astonishing 89 experts and combines junior and senior authors alike to enhance the rich diversity and quality of clinical perspectives. The editors have added a chapter on interpersonal therapy and updated all chapters to include the latest references and research findings.
