4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for TEACHERS, September 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Study Skills Handbook (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
This book is an excellent resource for teachers interested in incorporating the use of study skills in their curriculumn. Unfortunately, it offers little in the way of advice for parents wanting to teach these same skills to their children at home or who wish to take a more active role in their child's education. Had I known ahead of time that it was teacher-oriented (and not parent), I would have looked for something more applicable to my situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Study Skills for Students, March 28, 2000
This review is from: The Study Skills Handbook (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
This is an easy to understand and even easier to implement guide for study skills instruction at the elementary level. The strategies presented can be used in all curriculum areas and are easily adapted to the specific instructional goals of individual teachers. Students at all grade levels enjoy working with these study skills. Ideas like "The Sum-It-Up" and "Filming the Idea" are easily introduced to children at even the kindergarten level. The ideas in this book provide excellent support for students as they organize their thinking. The formats are particularly useful in preparation for the 4th grade ELA and Math tests. I look forward to additional suggestions from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars This woman has helped to revolutionize my classroom!, June 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Study Skills Handbook (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
I love this book! The ideas are simple, yet you are able to apply each and every suggestion in countless ways! I have been fortunate enough to attend many of Ms. Dodge's workshops as well, and I highly recommend them. The purchase of this book will give your teaching a shot in the arm... and your kids will love the "new approach!" Buy it!!!!! Then tell your principal to but it for the whole staff at your school... appropriate strategies K-12.
