THE STUDY SMART SERIES, designed for students from junior high school through lifelong learning programs, teaches skills for research and note-taking, provides exercises to improve grammar, and reveals secrets for putting these skills together in great essays.
Some students are not getting the grades they want, and others spend too much time working for good grades. Any student can find useful advice in Study Smarts: How to Learn More in Less Time. Study Smarts is the most complete and lively guide to streamlined studying. In a highly readable style, the authors eliminate the confusion and anxiety often felt about keeping up with course work.
Each chapter explains a different technique, and each chapter title is a nugget of advice that summarizes that technique. For example, “Eliminate interference from your environment;” or “Never study anything the same way twice.”
The writers explain how to set goals, take notes, review, cut reading time, make the most of class discussions, etc., all as efficiently as possible. Beyond refining basic study chores, there are novel tips for time management and cramming and special memory techniques. The authors also tell how to get outside help for special problems.

This review is from: Study Smarts: How to Learn More in Less Time (Paperback)
A fine guide to developing good study habits, applicable from junior high school right on through lifelong learning programs. Suggestions are divided between learning tips and memory techniques. Learning tips include acquiring a course loutline, mastering a subject's jargon, teaching oneself to read efficiently (shown in detail), recognizing lecturer's clues and taking organized notes. Tips for improving your memory include how to set up mnemonic devices that work.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was ok, December 13, 2010

This little guide was ok. It gives you tips on how to study smarter by skimming rather than reading everything. That was very helpful. I just thought it was going to be more helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars good book at cheap price, May 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i just rated a five star by the same authors for writing the book "test-taking strategies". This book also seems to be very good too. though i didn't read it but just skim briefly through it and it seems pretty good. The authors did a great job in the book "test-taking strategies" so this book could not be that bad. I like it for such good techniques and at such a low price.
