Ada R. Habershon hits a home-run in her erudite book "Study of the Types." Drawing mostly upon Old Testament typologies and their New Testament antitypes, Habershon shows christological typology in a clear and concise manner. She does not claim her connections and findings to be authoritative or final, she only offers what she considers to be the obvious connections between certain Old Testament ocurrences with New Testament parallels. I for one found the chapters "Types of the Resurrection", "Types of the Holy Spirit" and "The Garments of the Believer" very insightful. My only complaint about this book is that it is not written to those with moderate or novice understandings and recongition of biblical passages. Habershon frequently and openly quotes scripture without referencing which verse she's quoting. This is fine for those theologians that know the Bible excessively, but if you are just now beginning to familiarize yourself with the Bible, and want to see some of the references and quotations she makes in this book, have a KJV concordance on hand so you can follow her scriptural references (most modern publications of the KJV, like the Scofield, Zondervan, Thomas Nelson, etc., include a concordance in the back). All in all, I recommend this book for its content and price. Pastors and religion instructors will find the information very helpful in making sense of the Old Testament for students, and the layperson will become more fluent in the language of typology from having studied this wonderful book.

This book is so helpful in bringing the Old Testament to life--I never thought I could get through the book of Leviticus until I read this book and actually wanted to learn more about the different types of sacrificies, etc. As a notorious speed-reader, I had to force myself to go slowly so as to absorb all that she was saying.

The author does a fantastic job painting a picture of Yeshua (Jesus) throughout the Torah. The volume of the scroll truly is about the messiah and this book is a fantastic review of the many references found in the OT.
The only negative thing I can say about the book is that the author cites scripture and doesn't always explicitly state the exact verses. If you are familiar with scripture, you have a searchable bible, or you trust the author this is a moot point. This is not a reason not to read the book... this book truly is a gold mine. If you pray for your daily bread this is a buffet you can feed on for a very long time. God Bless

I have been an Ordianed Minister for 42 years of the Gospel of God / Gospel of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. But, I have found a source that allows this minister to enrich his knowledge of the "power of prayer" via imitating; duplicating, and excelling in the "power of prayer" from the Saints of God recorded in the Old Testament- Ada R. Habershon's book will forever be a learning tool for me. The depth of her treatment of the Scriptures is unparalleled. I'd recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about the "power of prayer!"

this book has helped me tremendously and i haven't finished reading it. she does a great job relating the types to the sacrifice of Christ if it's the type being explained. ultimately she understood that the offering of Christ as the sacrifice to God is the theme of the bible and how we should see the types from that perspective.

Ye Olde English,
This review is from: Study of the Types (Paperback)
It is worth noting that this book was first published in the 1800's or early 1900's and that the writing style is thus outdated by almost or more than a century. If you don't enjoy reading 19th-century language, this book may be sufficiently boring.
