Banana Technology Breakthrough!,
By
This review is from: Hutzler Banana Slicer (Kitchen)
This rapidly became my favorite specialty kitchen gadget! It slices an entire banana in just seconds, without getting banana goo on your fingers, and makes perfectly even slices. They're great for cereal, fruit salad, a quick snack, or throwing into the freezer for smoothies. It's large enough to accomodate any banana, it's easy to clean and stores neatly behind our banana hanger. Our household always has bananas many usually went to waste on a weekly basis -- but with this fun slicer we've dramatically increased our banana utilization.

I have tried it many times and every time I use it I have to push the rest of the slices out with my fingers. It's like it doesn't cut all the way through. I can slice a banana faster without it. Neat idea, just not for me I guess.

The Whole Story on a Indispensible Item,
By
This review is from: Hutzler Banana Slicer (Kitchen)
I do a lot of dehydrating in my Excalibur. This product came with the dehydrator and on first look I thought it was a toy kind of kitchen tool that wouldn't really work (and we all have had experience with the info-mercial).
At Costco I can buy ten pounds of bananas for under two dollars. I was too lazy to cut them up before I got the dehydrator and froze them whole. So my first dehydrating project was - yes! Bananas :} As mentioned, these will work best on bananas with a half yellow/half green skin - IF - you want whole,intact slices. If the banana is a little riper than that you will get slices on the end and half slices in the middle - great for cooking or freezing. If the banana is too big - simply cut it in half. I've gotten smart now - when I shop for bananas other than at Costco I simply remember to get the smaller sized bananas. These are also great for smoothies. Some of the smoothie makers like Hamilton don't do well unless incorporations are small. Use it on a riper banana and it will come out perfectly for smoothie machines. Having trouble cleaning it? I have a sprayer at my sink and as everyone knows - dried bananas could be used for mortar. Clean it immediately. If you don't have a sprayer just simply soak it a bit in dishwashing liquid and water then use a strong spray of water (I've been known to use the garden hose outside). And lastly - enjoy it for what it is. Very few things are perfect in life and most need a little help from your end to make it an enjoyable activity. They are called tools for a reason - tools are aids - not to take place of you actually working a bit. Have a good day everyone :}

It's inexpensive, it works perfectly, it's in the shape of a banana, what else could you want in a simple gadget? I may even buy a few more and give them as gifts!

The Banana Slicer is the sort of thing that one thinks is for people too lazy to cut up a banana, but my husband is a gadget fan so I got it for him and now I love it myself because one motion produces UNIFORM slices which is very helpful when baking or decorating something.
Nice to have and not expensive.

Time-saver!,

I make banana pudding quite often, and this is the biggest time-saving gadget in my kitchen. I don't have to get my hands as slimy, and it takes me a third of the time to slice up my bananas. I can imagine this would be great for older toddlers' snacks, too.

It is made of cheap plastic and the slices are not even. Impossible to clean. Great for making banana mush!

I bought this for my Mom. She got a big kick out of receiving it. She says that it is too big for most bananas and that it does not cut the whole way through. I will update this review if I find this inaccurate during my next visit!

Plastic slicer,
This review is from: Hutzler Banana Slicer (Kitchen)
The slicer needs help. The slices are not easy to remove from the slicer. It needs a platform from which the slices can be removed. It also requires a clean surface to cut the banana. If it had a platform this would not be a problem. The old wire banana slicer were ideal item.
