High Expectations...Low Delivery,

Easily the most fun on this album can be had with the track "Bettina". Other than that, most of the songs are even more mellow than the mellowest of ALO's offerings. I enjoy Zach and his music, however I have gone back to playing my Animal Liberation Orchestra as opposed to putting this disc back in the player. This is a good album, but it is just okay with regards to what I expected.

Great start to a solo career,
This review is from: Stuff (Dig) (Audio CD)
This album shows how talented Zack Gill is and really proves that he can have a solo career. Love almost every track especially "Back in the day" and "family". Recently saw him live with mason jennings and i cant stress enough how great all of his songs are. If you like Jack Johnson you'll really enjoy this album. Its a easy listener and will really put you in a good mood.

Zack always does a great job playing with Jack Johnson or ALO, but he is wonderful on his own. Way to go Zack!

I heard this on my Sirius radio, coffehouse station. It was the song, "Watch them grow". It was sweet and lyrical, and made me stop and relax. I LOVED it! It's a father watching his daughter grow.
I need this type of music in this world of ours. : )

Mellow, Feel Good Music,
This review is from: Stuff (Dig) (Audio CD)
I saw Zach Gill play with Jack Johnson at a concert I attended in August. He was so good I wanted to buy his newly released CD. When I listened to it, it was pretty much what I expected. Upbeat, silly, and just fun music. Zach is a talented songwriter. His music is upbeat but mellow at the same time. The lyrics are thoughtful and will make you laugh. I would recommend this CD to my friends and is a good selection for families, too.

Zach Gill's Stuff,
This review is from: Stuff (Dig) (Audio CD)
As of my writing this, it's been two months since Zach Gill's Stuff came out and there's only one other review here on Amazon. That means this is getting zero promo. It snuck out on Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records without me knowing about it either. And that's really sad because I really like this album.
If you don't know who Zach Gill is, he's in Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO), he's been on the Curious George Soundtrack, and he's generally associated with all things Jack Johnson. I like to think of him as a more hippie-version of Jack Johnson. "Stuff" - despite the kind of stupid name - is overall a very good album. There are some really cool, laid-back vibes here. I would agree with the other reviewer that there might be a couple too many slow songs on here. That said, though, it's great music. It feels really personable and friendly. It's hard to be unhappy when listening to this. It just has that good vibes/surf vibe to it. If you like Jack Johnson's stuff, you'll probably like this too. |
