This is the largest watch I own, but it still looks great. My criticisms are that 1) it's a little thick. The width is OK, by this watch is twice as thick as my others.
& 2) This is my biggest problem and is why I took off 2 stars. The watches are made in China. Sticker says so right on the box. I thought I was purchasing a Swiss watch, not a "Swiss" watch (According to the included literature, "Swiss owned and run with strict Swiss supervision with the overriding mission of maintaining the high standards previously set in Switzerland." However, if you don't care where the watch was made, then I highly recommend it.

Also, the company offers to extend the warranty by one year if you write a review here on Amazon.

EDIT: I've had it just about five months now and I still like it. It is giving me the time accurately and I have gotten used to the size. Very pleased overall with the watch. - Will update if something changes.

This is the first Stuhrling Original watched I've and I cannot be more impressed. I was sort of worried about the size of the watch, being I do not have the biggest wrists, but the watch fits perfectly. I love the design and quality of this watch. The price on amazon was the best around and shipping was fast. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I got this watch as a gold box deal and am not disappointed in the quality of the watch. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is on the larger side but if you want a small watch, fossil makes a nice line of ladies' watches. Who wears a watch to keep time anymore anyway? It's all about "hey look what I have on my wrist!" and this watch does the trick. So far it keeps good time and the skeleton setup with see through front and back allow for a mesmerizing display of time keeping goodness. The blue accents are really nice against the patterned backdrop and the watch leads to a lot of compliments.

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the price. When I bought the watch it was a gold box deal listed with an even higher ridiculous list price of over $700, an amazon price of $110 and a $59 discount. Now that it's not a gold box, deal the list is $425 and amazon's price is $59.99. I would like either company to introduce me to the person that paid $700 or even $425 for this watch. I'm tired of these companies slapping unsubstantiated pricing on things just to trigger an impulse buy on a great deal.

As another person mentioned, this is a "Swiss" watch, meaning it's a swiss owned company but the watch does not come from there. Also, it's clear that Stuhrling has a distribution arrangement with amazon because the documentation inside the watch box (which is a nice box by the way) tells you to come here and leave a review in order to extend your warranty.

There you have it, at $50 - $60 you're getting a really nice looking watch with a two year warranty (three if you leave a review).

UPDATE! - After only a few weeks the watch stopped working. The warranty requires the customer to pay $20 to handle shipping as well as pay for shipping back to the company. They state most repairs can be done in 6 weeks but some can take upwards of 12 weeks. I'm not even sure right now if I'm going to bother.

Bought this off of a gold box deal just in time for Father's Day.
My husband loves it, the skeletal look and self-winding feature are especially nice.
It was a great deal. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

This is an excellent watch for the price. I bought it knowing it would be large; that is the style for young people such as myself nowadays. It looks very stylish, and seems to be in fine working order. An amazing deal for the price (59.99 USD)

Yes, another victim of a gold box special impulse buy on this watch. Most my watches have been Timex or Costco type so this was a nice change for me, a little higher end. Only had the watch a day, but will give initial impression (and by so doing I add a year to the product warranty per the manufacturer). So keep in mind I don't own $500 watches and I have not had this one very long.

Shipping - Amazon sent it quick, typical Amazon service, no complaints.
Packing - Typical Amazon box with air bags.
Product Packing - Very nicely wrapped in a elegant box. Everything says high quality (or at least compared to Timex or Costco watches, which I like so not knocking, just comparing.)
Initial Impressions - It actually is a beautiful watch, better looking than the photo online. Watching the interior parts move is pretty cool and sure to grab attention (is this why they are called "watches"?. As soon as I put it on the hands started to move. I have never had a mechanical self-winding watch, so it's interesting. I like that there is no date cause honestly I don't know if I will wear it every day, so this way if it stops I just reset it in a few seconds instead of having to reset the date as well. The watch band is real leather, decent quality, a bit stiff from being flat in the box, I assume that problem will solve itself. My only comment is completely subjective. I am not a fan of big watches, and while this one is not huge, it is bigger and thicker than any I currently own. I will get used to it I am sure, but I would love it 10% smaller overall. Call it 4.5 stars overall.

Overall, for the price I paid (exact same as I paid for my everyday thrasher Timex), I am very pleased. If anything negative comes up (like it actually can't keep time!) I will update, but I like the extra year warranty, means I don't have to worry this self winding technology is going to fail and that the company believes in their product.

1-month update - Keeping time fine, getting used to the size. Had 5 strangers compliment the watch which is exactly 5 more people than have ever commented on a watch of mine in the last 30 years, so people apparently do notice watches!

When I purchased this watch I knew that it had a Chinese movement, and that it would not be anywhere near Swiss quality. I also knew that the overinflated MSRP was exaggerated and that the watch was not worth that value and that nobody sells them for that much. However, when it was one of the GoldBox deals, it got cheap enough that I would take the risk.

When it arrived I noticed that it the automatic counterweight in the back was a bit sticky and did not go around as smoothly as other Automatics I had seen. I dismissed it as just being slightly lower quality and felt it was OK, as I knew the watch was not a high end watch. Within 2 weeks the counterweight would get lodged in the 12 O'clock position and would not come loose by a simple movement of the watch. The watch still worked by winding it manually so I still did not consider it a total loss, though it was definitely less cool without it being an automatic. Then yesterday the counterweight has worked its way loose again, only now it has completely come loose and is scraping and rattling inside the watch. It literally sounds like I am wearing a baby rattle on my wrist. It still looks nice, but it literally lasted less than a month of light use before a complete failure. I will now be trying out Stuhrling's warranty, and am only writing this review so that I get an extended warranty before I start using it (they give you an extra year if you leave feedback, though with quality this bad I am unsure why they would want people to give feedback.

edit: I looked at Sturhling's site and found that you have to pay for shipping and handling for repairs. So not only would I have to pay for shipping the watch to NY, they will not repair it without payment of the return shipping fee of $20 (so I would end up paying $40 minimum to repair a $50 watch that is under warranty). I would return it through Amazon but my expiration window of returning through Amazon expired last night! So my advice after learning of their horrible warranty policy is to just avoid this company like the plague. I pity the people who paid the higher price for this watch and Amazon should be ashamed to carry such poor quality merchandise from a company like this.

I was not a fan of this watch. it's big - sticking up 0.66 inches from the edge of my wrist. the watch itself is 0.5 inches thick. the watch is also noisy - you can hear it clicking at night from next to the bed. amazon has a good return policy though and i returned it. i got this on sale for $60 so you can get a better price

I should have read the dimensions much more carefully and converted the metric dimensions to English Units before I bought this wrist watch. I have another skeleton watch that is less than half this thick, so I did not expect such a thick and very heavy watch. I suppose I will put it back in the box and make a Christmas gift to somebody I do not like very much. Even though I am six feet tall, my wrist is not such a large diameter. The leather wrist band is very stiff and doesn't bend readily. The watch is so thick and wide that the stiff leather bands just drop straight down. It does not conform to the shape of my arm at all. So take a look at the metric dimension. The actual width is 2.16 inches. Measure 2.16 inches on your wrist to determine how much space that takes. The width of my wrist is only 2.3 inches. So if you are a very large frame male, it might fit you better.

So between the oversized watch and the stiff band, it is extremely uncomfortable to wear. I wish I had never bought it - a waste of money even at half price on the Gold Box special. I would have given it three stars if it wasn't so incredibly thick and heavy. It is more like an old style pocket watch than a wrist watch. In fact, I would have been much happier if it had been a pocket watch.
