The Stuhrling Original Classic Delphi Omega is a beautiful watch, so far so good with no time loss or gain and has been accurate, September 19, 2011

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
My review is for the Stuhrling Original Men's 107EM.331531 Classic Delphi Omega Stainless Steel Automatic Skeleton Watch Set.
Having reviewed quite a few watches on Amazon and also a watch collector, this is my first review for a Stuhrling watch. So, let's start..
I. Sturhling Original - Do they make good watches?
I've known a few on various forums and those who are on the Watch of the Day type of forums that have shown off their Stuhrling watches. The name Stuhrling and horology have been synonymous as Max Stuhrling was a Swiss watchmaker from the 1800's. But Stuhrling Original is a newer company based in Brooklyn, New York and is founded by Max Stuhrling IV in 2002 in partnership with George J. von Burg. The watches are made in facilities in Switzerland and China and among watch collectors, it is known that the movement is China-based. With that being said, there are a few Chinese movements that are good, but depending on the parts, it can also be bad. I have previously done some research on Stuhrling Original and how some people felt about them and there are many who have NOT had any problems, while there are a few that have.
But because Sturhling Original does provide beautiful time pieces for a low price, many people look at Stuhrling Original as competitors to other competitors like Invicta, Kroton but also to Japanese watchmakers such as Seiko and Orient. Watches that are typically $100 or lower.
II. Packaging
There is one thing that I have always been fascinated with Stuhrling Original watches is their packaging. Most companies that produce affordable watches have boxed type packaging, Stuhrling Original has a rectangle black slipcase covering an orange box.
Inside the box is a free one-year warranty extension, warranty, business card, instructions and you also get a second band. The Classic Delphi Omega Stainless has a black band but inside is a brown 24 genuine leather band and a watch dial cleaner.
This is pretty awesome since it's standard with this company and most other companies don't provide you all that much. So, that is a major plus for this watch and what it provided to the customer.
III. The Classic Delphi Omega Stainless Steel Automatic Skeleton Watch
While Stuhrling Original watches are typically in the $50-$100 end, this watch is in the $120's.
The band is a 24 genuine leather black band (as with the brown) with a stainless steel silver buckle. For those with a bigger wrist, it fits me...but just enough to get it to the second hole of the band. Do I like the band, it's a pretty nice band with a snake-like pattern (horizontal lines and one line from the vertical center).
Upon looking at the 44" dial, you see the Stuhrling Original Automatic wording but nice seriff numbering in gold. I love the design of the dial as it is skeleton but the arms are blue on the outline and white.
The watch uses a Krysterna Crystal (these were develop not so long ago but are primarily used in high-end glasses) with a Stainless Steel back with the center showcasing the movement and shows that the watch is 20 Jewels and is water resistant up to 59 meters.
Setting up the watch is easy, pull the crown out (located at the 3:00 position) and set the clock. There is no hacking (second arm) with this watch for those wanting precision timing.
I do like the arms as the hour arm is fat but not too thick, and the minute arm is long. Lume on the arms can be seen but it was not too strong, so people with bad eyesight may not see the glow with this watch.
Here are some key points that I did recognize with this watch:
* This is an automatic watch. That means that this watch operates on arm/wrist movement not on batteries. So, if you stop using this watch for a few days, it will die out on you until you put it on and it senses movement and thus you will have to reset/adjust your watch. I prefer mechanical/automatic watches over Quartz and I have family who have had mechanical watches for decades that still work perfectly nearly 40-50 years later. Granted, they were Japanese or Swiss movement.
* The manual is only a small piece of paper with info. on how to adjust the clock and the water resistance of this watch. At 59 meters, it's good for showering or shallow water swimming. Personally, no screw down crown... I wouldn't use this in the shower or in water at all.
* The manual doesn't show how much +/- time loss or gain per day. For one day use, I can't tell if it was -30 second loss but it is hard to say at this point. I will update this review if I notice any significant gain or loss.
* With a 44 dial, it's not to small, nor is it too bulky. It fits just right, no hurting the hand or discomfort.
* This is only a guesstimate but if it's like other Stuhrling Original automatics, this may also have a 34+ hour reserve after a full day wearing and you put it away in your watch cabinet. So, that's pretty good.
JUDGMENT CALL:
The Stuhrling Original Classic Delphi Omega Automatic Skeleton is a beautiful watch. And Stuhrling Original has a good number of cool looking skeleton watches. And I know the big question that people will ask me is if the watch is dependable? Is Krysterna Crystal as tough as Sapphire? Since the movement is China-made, does it mean bad?
First, I don't know if Stuhrling is a dependable company as this is my first watch. But I will say that compared to another company I know in the same price point, I don't see that many complaints on line towards Stuhrling, so that is a positive. Also, I do like the fact that they do offer a one year warranty plus a free one-year warranty extension. Not many companies do this at this price point, nor do many companies in a similar price point goes as far to offer these extra freebies in the case. So, that is a plus from me to the Stuhrling Original watch.
As for the Krysterna Crystal, I did two tests...
I dropped a quarter from about a foot high on the crystal to see if it would shatter, scratch and it held up quite well with no scratch. Dropped a marble on it...no shattering. Granted, I didn't drop this on the cement which can damage any tough watch nor did I put it under a tire and back up but with these two tests, it did manage to not have any scratches and no shattering or cracks.
And third, because of the China movement, I know people who buy Chinese watches (because they are cheap) but there are some very good movements from China such as Seagull. I've read from one source that Stuhrling uses Seagull and Shanghai movements. Granted, things may be ebauche (using Chinese parts) but because I know there are people who love Seagull and Shanghai movements, because this uses an ST-90050, it uses a Liaocheng Standard movement distributed by PTS Resources in Hong Kong.
But it works great right now but like all watches, you need to give it standard use 3-months, 6-months a year to give a thorough analysis of the movement and how accurate the time will be. So, I will continue to update my review. But for now, it's a pretty good looking automatic skeleton watch. I have no complaints...although some may bicker towards the Chinese movement but yet the watch is sold for $125 versus under $100. I am not too familiar with the Liaochaneg Standard movement but I will come back to this review as I continue to use this watch.
But as of now, so far, so good. Looks very good and classy, movement looks good, love the packaging and the two watch bands and rear case-back movement as well. So, far the watch is accurate with no complaints.

A Gigantic Watch with Nice Packaging (3.5 stars), November 6, 2011
This review is from: Stuhrling Original Men's 107EM.331531 Classic Delphi Omega Stainless Steel Automatic Skeleton Watch Gift Set (Watch)
Before considering anything else about this watch, you have to realize it is big. B-I-G. As in HOOOGE!
Yes, the dimensions of the watch are listed above. What do they really mean? How about this: the face is the size of a silver dollar and the case is as thick as a 9-volt battery.
Why does this matter? Well, it is something that comes down to personal taste of course. But I feel the sheer size of this watch makes it difficult to wear with a cuffed shirt. It also creates a significant bulge under any garment with long sleeves that is not generously cut. For me, these two things limit the watch to casual use only. Tailored clothing, in my opinion, will not look good with this watch.
If you do like big watches, Stührling has put together a nice package. The face is easy to read and is attractively designed. The movement (note that it most likely is not Swiss-made) is visible from both front and back. Best of all, this watch does not require batteries and winds itself as one wears it. As long as the watch gets a few hours of normal wear each day, it probably won't ever need to be manually wound.
Gift-givers will appreciate the lavish packaging for a watch at this pricepoint. An orange presentation box comes protected by a glossy black outer sleeve. The box itself contains the watch with a black wristband, a second brown wristband, a polishing cloth, and extensive documentation.
Bottom line: while I think the large overall size of this watch affects where and how it can be worn, the watch is nicely designed and comes in a package that is very suitable for gift-giving. 3.5 stars (rounded down to 3 because I personally prefer a slimmer watch but anybody who digs eye-catching watches can round up to 4-stars).
