Out of the box I thought I got a keeper and was proud to carry it but after only a few days things started to happen that caused me some concern. First, I didn't like the chain because I thought it was cheaply made and the end result it catches on the lip of my watch pocket. The stand on the backside was not flush so that tells me the tooling isn't perfect as Swiss watches are known so the impression was this was built on an assembly line. The D-ring that the chain connects to the watch is loose to the point that I thought it was broke or sprung, I thought it was going to just fall off. Lastly, after about two weeks it started to lose time, today alone it lost 30 minutes. So I am returning this junker for a refund and will buy a reliable WENGER, which is what I had planned to do in the first place but I liked the looks of this big shinny thing. If asked I will tell you to buy a different watch, you will be happier as a result. Thank you for your time.

This watch has a nice weighty feel to it and I am very pleased with the moon phase function, it matches the phases of the moon very accurately. The day and the date are also nifty functions to have. Right now my only concern is the watch is running a little slow, which may be a result of this particular watch. I am sending it in to see what the problem is, and I will update this review.

I was really impressed with my first purchase of Stuhrling Original Men's 142A.EU.PK6 Lifestyle Collection Monarch Moon Quartz Pocket Watch. I got the one with yellowish face. I bought it in September 2010. It kept perfect time and for its price, a steal!

So, I bought another one of this Chinese-made watch for my pocket watch collection. The 2nd one I got was exactly the same model as above, except the 2nd one has a blue face.

I was really disappointed with my 2nd purchase of Stuhrling. It loses at least 5 minutes a day. I had to keep adjusting it everyday!!!

I didn't bother sending it back to Amazon for a refund or exchange. I thought it was just the battery because my other Stuhrling (exactly the same model, except for the color) was keeping perfect time. So I had the battery changed at a very reputable jewelry store in Chicago. The problem did not go away. It still loses at least 5 minutes per day.

I believe, they have a seriously quality control problem. They made good quality watches, but not on a consistent basis.

I bought this as I am a collector and user of Pocket watches. While this photo looks great, it is very hard to read the day and date on this watch once you wear it. The back stand is not aligned cleanly in the back resulting in a not flush fitting.
Lastly, the reason we buy pocket watches is to keep time. This watch lost time almost from the first day. At first I thought I may have not reset the stem. But by the second day, I saw a marked losing of time, almost ten minutes in 12 hours!! This is not what I want in a pocket watch. I have a Mondaine pocket watch which was in the same price range as this and it keeps dead accurate time.
Regrettably, while this looks very nice, it is poorly crafted for keeping proper time. I have returned same for a refund from Amazon and would warn possible buyers that if all you want is a nice appearing watch, this is fine. When it comes to keeping time, avoid this watch until they can put together a watch that is a consistently good time keeper!!
Not a good choice!

As another reviewer has commented, Stuhrling must have quality control problems.

They also must heave deaf ears when it comes honoring their guarantee responsibilities.
The first one of these I received was uselessly slow and not what I'd expect for a digital watch. Maybe it was engineered to tell the time on a different Moon.

I returned it (expensive from Australia) and eventually received an even slower replacement.

Stuhrling then suggested (via the supplier) that I replace it for another style of watch. (Admission of not being able to supply an accurate Moon Watch?)

I replied that I didn't need another style of watch. My requirement was for an accurate Moon Phase Pocket Watch.
The supplier informed me that Stuhrling did not not want to take responsibility for that.

In fairness to the supplier, they offered me a refund if I again returned the watch. However I can't be stuffed chasing bad money with good and now have a nice looking piece of dodgy Chinese-Stuhrling junk sitting in my watch collection.

I note there's the odd happy recipient of this "Timepiece" giving rave on-line reviews. All I can say is that they must be very lucky. There's a high proportion of reviews from people who've been dudded by Stuhrling.

I'm a big fan of pocket watches. I've had one all my life. My most recent purchase was a Tommy Bahama watch which died after 12 months. After reading all kinds of reviews, I decided the best value in the marketplace is this Stuhrling. This is an awesome watch. What a beautiful design! It's keeping time to the second! I love this watch.

I bought the watch Dec.2010. Have sent it in for a broken stem twice, and once when it just stopped running. They charge $20 every time you send it for repair under warantee.

The Stuhrling 142A.EU.PK6 pocket watch is a disappointment. Loses an incredible 10 mins per day. What I thought was a bargain is now trash. On closer inspection of the quartz mechanism I not surprised that it loses time, not exactly precision workmanship here.

Like the heft and feel of this watch. Just getting to know and understand it. The only question I have is how to change the battery.
