I bought this watch for myself in December after doing a lot of research and comparisons to many other different watches.

This watch is absolutely gorgeous; the clarity of the face and quality of the mechanics are very high. The watch is a real eye-catcher and is definitely a conversation starter. I've been asked many times about my watch doing ordinary things such as being in an elevator; eating, being out shopping. The watch is very different and unique.

Stuhrling are generally not sold here in Canada and that is why a lot of people have never seen anything like this before. No watch store I've been to carries anything like this watch.

I've only recently started wearing watches and this is my first leather strapped watch. It took some getting used to as I like to wear my watches a little loose so they have a bracelet feel to them. The leather strap is very comfortable and its got a nice shade of black to it; it really enhances the steel look of the watch; as do the blue minute/second dials.

The only complaint I have about the watch is that it is a little loud; I noticed this at the movie theater and during a scene where all was very quiet I could actually hear my watch ticking away...

Also due to it being charged by kinetic energy I find that if I don't wear the watch for 2 days then I do have to reset the time as it stops ticking. But resetting the time only takes a few seconds so its not really a big deal.

Overall if you are looking for something unique to wear and can't afford to spend thousands on a watch then this is very highly recommended.

Just for informational purposes, before you buy it, please be aware these watches are NOT Swiss made. I did research and found they are built somewhere in Asia. I purchased this watch a couple years ago from a retail store in the mall. Granted it looked good, but it lasted like 8 months. Your choice...

This is such a beautiful watch, and that's why I attempted to purchase this watch a second time, only to find that the second was also defective. I bought this watch about a month ago, and as soon as I took it out of the package and got it working, I fell in love with it. Within a day, it turned into a baby rattle; for some reason, it was rattling like crazy. I'm not very familiar with automatic watches, and so at first I thought this was normal. I looked up the issue online and found that it had something to do with a loose piece. Immediately I returned the item (you're not able to get a replacement, you actually have to get a return and buy another), in hopes that the watch I had bought was just defective. About a week later I received my second watch. On the second day, it flat out stopped working . Two defective watches! I was very irritated. Anyways, of course I didn't end up buying a third, and so I had to let this one go. It's very beautiful, and continues to receive great reviews on Amazon, but I had no luck with this one. I'd also like to mention that both of the watches I received were ticking audibly; you could hear them easily when you're just sitting and reading or watching TV. FYI, I got free shipping the first time and thought that this could have been the case of the rattling, but for the second watch, I paid for shipping and I still had an issue. A+ for Amazon (free shipping, fast refund, paid for return shipping, and I guess it's not their fault, at least I don't think), and F- for Stuhrling. ;(

had my eye on this watch for a few weeks and mentioned it to my wife, who decided to purchase it for me as a birthday gift.

overall, the watch is very impressive and i would consider it good value for the money. the heft, fit and finish are very nice. the crystal and components are of good quality and the design is very nice as well, with the movement clean and showing well from both the front and back. i was concerned that the internals or numerals may look cheap and was pleasantly surprised to find this not the case at all, the watch appears to have been crafted and assembled with care from quality components and functions very well. the st-90089 movement seems to be keeping excellent time.

my other concern was regarding the size as i do not have particularly thick wrists. the size is perfect; the transparent case and relatively low overall case height combine to make this watch wear a little smaller than it's 41mm would indicate. the proportions are very nice indeed.

the one thing that i would change regarding this watch would be to add some lume. the lack of night-time visibility is unfortunate and makes this watch a casual wear for me instead of an every day timepiece. i knew this when purchasing it however and so am not detracting a star from it.

this watch is exactly as advertised and has earned my 5 star review. it's a decent quality time piece (better than expected actually) and an attractive addition to anyone's collection!

PROS: The Watch, for the most part, looked very nice, I was pleased with the stylings. In addition it came in a very nice package.

CONS: The front glass face had the words STUHRLING ORIGINAL printed on it. This lettering was supposed to be centered about 12 O'Clock but the front glass was rotated a bit conter-clockwise. The lettering was then centered about 11:58 instead of 12:00.

I ended up returning the watch and getting a similar watch (different brand) at a brick and mortar store where I could inspect it 1st.

I received my Stuhrling Original Winchester Skeleton watch and couldn't be more pleased with both the shipping time and the watch itself. I was surprised to get the watch in less than a week even with the free shipping. As for the watch, it's a nice, solid, and great looking watch that I'm excited to wear. I've already gotten positive comments on it!

A few points:

The pictures do not do this watch any justice. This is a very well crafted and intricately designed device, and the closer you look at it the more you will appreciate it.

Initially the watch seemed, very much out there. Which in a way is a good conversation starter.

The strap is a little too shiny, but it's leather and it got worn in really nicely.

No light or illumination on the dials.

It's actually kinda loud... the winding mechanism can definitely be heard a yard or two away in a quiet room.

End of the day, there's no other watch like it. So I had to keep it and love it

Well i got my watch today and i like it so much.
when i opened the box i didn't believe that this was my watch!
so nice! the finishing touch is just beautifull.
I recommend this watch if you are looking for a skeleton watch!
And this is not my last watch from Sturling!
Well overall a great watch for this price.

This is a beautiful watch of high style and craftsmanship. I've only had it a week and get tons of complements on it, it's a real eye catcher. The blue hands are a nice touch, where silver or white, or even black would get lost in the detail of the watch, the blue really stands out without being gaudy. The automatic winding mechanism and all the machinework is beautifully exposed through both the crystal and the clear watch back.

There are 2 things that keep this from being a 5-star review. 1) the band isn't particularly comfortable. It's overly stiff and the loop that holds the loose end of the band rubs on my wrist at times. 2) the crystal has cristp black lettering that says "Stuhrling Original" but it's not perfectly centered on the 12, it looks like the crystal was put on just slightly rotated from center. It's barely noticeable, in fact I didn't spot it until I saw another person write the same thing in their review, but I can clearly see it now.

I searched for years for a skeleton that was a good value and mechanically sound. I had previously bought a mechanical skeleton and the winding mechanism gears stripped out nearly out of the box. I was determined to purchase a higher quality watch yet not pay a tremendous price.

I am a mechanical engineer and will stare at this watch often during long boring meetings. It will memorize you, and will be a good conversation piece.

I shied away from buying this earlier because I did not think the pictures looked that great, it took a bunch of positive feedback to convince me it was worth the risk. The pictures accurately represent the watch, but I would say it is richer and more elegant looking than the pictures let on. High mirror shine on the stainless steel, a good fit and comfortable- this coming from a person who normally wears a watch once or twice a month. I was worried the anodized aluminum hands would look cheap compared to the rest of the watch, but they don't. They are bold enough to see clearly but yet they still look fitting. Maybe black would have been a better choice, but it's still nice.

This one will get worn daily.

The band is supple leather and is comfortable, and I hope it holds up over time. It might sacrifice longevity for comfort, but it is too new for me to be sure.

cons:
-the pictures do not depict the "Stuhrling Original" black lettering that is printed on the face of the watch. It is small and reasonably printed, but is off center to the left by a spacing of one half letter. disappointing and cheap flaw.
-you cant wear it inside out. the back is awesome!
-the outer ring that runs half way through the numbers and branches out to the case is cast aluminum and not machined. every other surface of the watch is of machine or stamped and polished finish. the casting has some flaws, no pitting but some inconsistency in surface finish that cheapen it a bit.

buy it unless you are rich and don't care about value purchases, but if you were that person you wouldn't be reading this, so buy it.
