Charing Cross is officially recognized as the center of London and is marked on contemporary maps as the stretch of road between Great Scotland Yard and Trafalgar Square. And following in the footsteps of its popular Trafalgar Square quartz chronograph timepiece, Stührling Original introduces its new Charing Cross and Charing Cross Elite. At almost double the size of its forerunner, the whopping fancy-shaped case of the Charing Cross is constructed from solid 316L surgical grade stainless steel and sports a curved topside framing a large custom curved Krysterna™ crystal. The contemporary appeal of Charing Cross is supported by the subtlety of the cross-shaped cutout in the main dial revealing a magnificent old-world harlequin pattern as the backdrop of this charmer. The main dial is diffused with a special treatment of color and the clever cross-like arrangement of the angular baton indices give the impression of the crosses on the “Union Jack” British flag; just another subliminal suggestion of the center of London. The functionality of the Charing Cross is defined by the trusty Citizen quartz chronograph movement (cal. OS21) featuring a center-stop seconds hand, sixty-minute counter (sub-dial at nine o’clock), small seconds (sub-dial at six o’clock), a twenty-four hour indicator (sub-dial at three o’clock), and a quick set date complication at the twelve o’clock position. The sub-dials lend extra dimension and depth to the look of the Charing Cross as they are distinctly separate pieces that have been adjoined to the split level dial; and colossal uniquely shaped pushers add even more charisma to its charm. With water resistance to fifty meters, the back of the watch is secured with a decorated step-design screw-down stainless steel case-back. The Charing Cross is mounted on a magnificent and behemoth twenty-four millimeter wide crocodile embossed genuine leather padded strap and is completed appropriately with a push-button dual-deployant clasp while the Charing Cross Elite comes seamlessly integrated to a fluid five-row angular stainless steel link bracelet with a flip-lock safety clasp.
