Product Description

Similar to the popular game Mario Kart but with more of a challenge. Similarities with Nintendo's F-Zero include the ability to boost the speed of the vehicles, the use of the L and R buttons to make sharper turns, and the possibility of damaging vehicles by running into walls, hazards, or other vehicles; falling damage is also possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars People are too hard on this game, January 8, 2002
By ben
when you see this game get bad reviews its mostly because it is being compared to the newer games of today. this game was way ahead of its time when it was released and you just cant compare it to any other race games. this game is still hours and hours of fun ecspecially if your someone who grew up playing regular nintendo(the best system ever) and super nintendo. it may be an easy game to beat but it never gets old. the two player mode is awesome and so is the championship mode. overall i see no flaws in this game so i would definatley reccomend it to anyone who still appreciates their super nintendo.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best SNES racers February 9, 2007
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I had this game back in the mid to late 1990's. My friend had it and

I would constantly borrow it from him because it was so fun. I eventually

got my own copy and sold it along with my system to buy a Dreamcast in

1999(big mistake). I recently picked this game up (about a year ago)

because I acquired a SNES redesign. Looking back on it now, it was very high tech for 1994. This was a time when all you could get was 2D racing games like F-Zero or 3rd person racing games like Rock n' Roll Racing(also very fun). Playstation didn't exist around here yet and Sega saturn was very young. Nintendo recently developed the Super FX chip which was an extra 32bit internal processor to generate 3D images on a 16bit Super Nintendo. It was only used on 3 games(this one, Star Fox, and Dirt Trax FX.

Now on to the review. Today, graphically this game would be considered as crap. This happens with pretty much every game though. The frame rate isn't very high(prob 20-25 frames a second) and everything is not very detailed. The thing is you have to remember that this game was made in 1994 though. These graphics were probably some of the best that Super Nintendo could when it came to 3D games.

Gameplay wise, back in the day it was really fun. It still is today even though I'm much better than I was then. You basically start out with 3 vehicles and 4 tracks. The vehicles are a big "monster" truck, a small 2 door coupe, and a small indy type car. All the vehicles have their pros and cons. The truck is strong and fast accelerating, but it has a slow top speed. The small coupe is more average in all departments. The indy car is fast in the long run, but very weak for collisions and slower accelerating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunt Race FX August 20, 2009

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Personally for me, this game is all about the nostalgia factor. I remember when I first got this game back when I was 4 or 5, and I loved it. today I'm 19 and I still find it fun. The game is repetitive and frankly a primitive 3D racing game, but there is just something about it that I can't get enough of, and I just can't describe it. Oh well, I guess this game is just that awesome, or I really need to grow up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great game at the time but aged poorly August 30, 2013
By Mike
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
GRAPHICS: Like I said before, the graphics were revolutionary at the time even if Star Fox did it first. It looked fantastic in the early 90s. However by today's standards the graphics are pretty laughable.
-Then: 5/5
-Now: 2/5

SOUND: The music is catchy and upbeat. Probably the thing that held up best over the years. It was fun to listen to then and still pretty good now.
-Then: 4/5
-Now: 3/5

GAMEPLAY: Even back then the gameplay was "meh" at best. Today the controls feel very loose and with the framerate so low it's sometimes hard to even see what's going on.
-Then: 3/5
-Now: 2/5

OVERALL: I had a lot of fun with this 20 years ago but today it just doesn't hold up. I gave the game bonus points for being revolutionary for its time however.
-Then: 4/5
-Now: 2/5

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun classic game June 10, 2013
i remember playing this game when it came out. it was a lot of fun then, and it still is. The controls are a little sluggish, but once you get used to it you can actually use it to your advantage. The cartridge showed up in like new condition.
