Biography

Two Fingers is the musical alter-ego of Amon Tobin. The first Two Fingers album was a collaboration with fellow producer Doubleclick. The eponymous release came out in 2009 and heavily featured UK vocalist Sway.

The second album, "Stunt Rhythms" was a solo effort by Amon Tobin and was released worldwide by Big Dada in 2012. "Fools Rhythm," included in Ninja Tune's ... Read more in Amazon's Two Fingers Store

Editorial Reviews

Amon Tobin marches to no one's beat but his own. In a career spanning over ten years he has been connected to but never belonged to a host of scenes and styles. He has consistently made the music he feels he needs to make, not what other people think he ought to make, always exhibiting a level of attention to sonic detail which makes his music more intensely textured, beautiful and brutal than almost anyone's out there.
Make no mistake -- ''Stunt Rhythms'' is about beats and bass. The model for the album comes from ''Fools Rhythm'' (included here), one of the standout tracks from Ninja's 20th anniversary ''XX'' boxset, an infectious mixture of playground melody, sharp beat and thunderous bass.

I'm an album listener, tho, so that might just be personal preference.

I would give the album 4 stars, but taking into account how difficult it is to find a solid record: 5 stars.

I have enjoyed a lot of IDM over the years, but I am not a musician. A lot of IDM can be a bit too rarefied, but this album packs a lot of street appeal with some dirty lyrics. Definitely crossing some genre lines with perhaps some dubstep appeal, but Tobin, if anything, influenced dubstep, rather than vis vers.

I might be from Mars, but this album has that rhythm that I love; a dynamic froth of engagement that one may dance to savagely, and reach the sky.

A good assortment of rhythms and quirky, aggressive beats. But the album could honestly do without any singing or rapping.

This album is just stellar. I had no idea Two Fingers was Amon Tobin. I've been waiting for Fool's Rhythm to get an album release for months and holy crapsticks this album is 100% satisfying. I expected Fool's Rhythm to eclipse the rest of the album but all of these tracks are so solid, the entire album just drives.

My only complaint is that the album is a tiny bit "track-y" - in that it feels like a collection of (all completely amazing) tracks that, at times, feels like it's missing some unification. I'm an album listener, tho, so that might just be personal preference.

Regardless, if you've made it far enough to look at the reviews, you just need to get the album, turn it up, and bounce, dance, or whatever you do to infallible beats.
