I had played the GBA version of the original stuntman awhile ago and remembering it fondly I picked up Ignition. I haven't been disappointed with this game yet, unless you consider cursing at your screen a disappointment, and I don't. The restart option is your friend here as you memorize each increasingly insane filmed stunt until you make it to the end. The lengths of the stunts vary as do the quality of the shenanigans involed but more often than not you will be laughing with this games over the top sense of humour and its skewering of "pop" film directors like "robert Rodrino" as well as the sheer manic feel of the some of the major stunts. The games strength like others before it (Crazy Taxi/Carmageddon) is the joy of the combo and once you five star a run you will feel quite a bit of satisfaction. The music is a little metaly and the directors barking can get annoying but sound effects wise the game is also terrific otherwise. The star system of unlocking films might be daunting for some, but the extra options like odd jobs, freestyle, and stunt constructor set all help fill the time when you are stuck on filming a certain scene. There is way too much precision involved here for the included 6 axis motion control and unlocking the constructor parts can be a bit of work but there is alot of ground to cover here for those who love the gas pedal and don't mind the restart button. I hope THQ doesn't kill the franchise but if this is the finale its a grand sendoff. For the price you can't go wrong IF YOU LIKED BURNOUT PARADISE you should give this a shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Constructor Fun, Crashing, and Explosions!, June 22, 2008
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Stuntman: Ignition (Video Game)
I know everyone trashed the last game in this series, but this one is very fun. The director gets kinda annoying, especially the one with the.... French, or something like that, accent. I got this game because I like awesome explosions and car destruction and high flying jumps. This game has all of it!

In the first five minutes of playing it, I was yelling for my brother to see this game. The graphics are outstanding! The cars and trucks handle pretty good. The motorcycle handle some-what good, but get annoying when you hit a wall and fall off. The semis and monster trucks are fun to drive because they handle pretty well for their size. And don't you like running over cars. You can change the colors on the vehicles, too. And sence I'm talking about the vehicles, I'll say that the damage is good. Things bend this way and that. It's fun to watch the cars blow up in the movies. It's very realistic.

The difficulty starts out easy, then gets harder, just like a lot of other games. You restart a LOT! In the last movie your in, Night Avenger, you restart about twenty times, litarally, in each scene. Gets a lit... urr.... very fustrating sometimes, but overall, very fun!

You do lots of movies which I don't think are real, that means those guys that made the game had to think out a bunch of movies by themselves.
I think thats pretty cool. You do commercials and stunt show, too. The commercials are very amazing because when you finish and watch the replay, it adds things like someone talking about the product being advertised. That is cool when you see it. The stunt show are hard, but fun. Know one wants an game thats too easy. When you finish a scene, you feel a bunch of happiness in you, which is a little weird, but rewarding.

PROS: 1. Awesome graphics
2. Great soundtrack, recognizable songs
3. Destruction is fun for anyone
4. Constructor, go crazy and build the most insane stunt coarses in the world
5. Vehicles handle good
6. Exiting, fast gameplay
7. Good replays
8. Enough things to keep you busy for a while
9. High replay value

CONS: 1. Fustrating
2. Falling off on you're motorcycle
3. Getting stuck on little things
4. ............

That's all I can think of. You can see it's a very fun game. I love it. You should give this one a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trial and Error Gem, June 16, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Stuntman: Ignition (Video Game)
This is a game like Mom used to make- equally unforgiving and fun, but very satisfying when you pull off a level. This is not a game that can be played through in one sitting, but will take a long time if you go for all the bonuses and 5 star courses. Is it repetitive? Sure is, just like every other game ever made. The deal here is that each re-try feels like a tutorial on how to perfect each level. You'll be learning a lot too, because restarting levels is the name of this game! That's not really a bad thing, just something you have to be prepared for.

Once you do pull a good run and finish all the different stunts in each "movie", your treated to a trailer for the "film". You can see the time that the developer put into these trailers- great stories, great voice acting, and just the right amount of cheese-factor make tthese trailers a treat. Once you complete a couple of films the individual events open up, and then the game really shines. One event may have you driving in a commercial, while another puts you into a daredevil stunt show. These are arguably more fun than the main game, so it's a real bonus. Also don't miss the online mode where you can build and share your own stunt track creation.

It's a shame this game didn't catch on when it was released because it's really fun, and is not the same old racer. Bonus is that now we can enjoy Stuntman Ignition at a bargain price.

If it wasn't for the demo on PSN I wouldn't have given this game a shot, but I was pleasantly surprised. This game is a blast, don't expect deep meaningful gameplay...but it is lots of fun and replay value is way up there...enjoy!

It's almost like watching Hollywood making a movie right in front of you but you are in contol of the action instead. Just like any game, the higher the level the harder it gets.

Ok, so I deleted my first review and am trying again now that I've actually played more of the game and gone into the constructor mode. First of all I'll say, this game is long! I thought the first Stuntman had a long career mode. I thought I was almost done, but I just looked in the stats menu and I've only completed 43% of Single Player mode and only 34% overall. Thats also in an hour and forty minutes of play, so it goes by fairly fast. Some scenes are very easy and others take you half an hour to get right. If you dont feel like going through a movie, you can get a "quick fix" where you get 4 "freestyle" scenes and 4 "directed" scenes and basically do whatever it takes to get the highest score. They've moved the arena shows from required stunts between each movie to a separate stunt menu, and added commercials into the "side jobs". The arena shows arent very much fun and use almost no jumps until you get into the stunt constructor menu, and the commercials are very precise. No mistakes are allowed in commercials, which is especially hard for the final one because, at least in my experience, I'd get failed for nothing. It wouldn't pass close enough to a car or not cut the other driver off enough during an overtake or something small like that. Even if the icon turned green I kept going and got stopped for no reason and had to start over.

Going into the Construction mode I found that you not only get 2 extra unlockable arenas (that i have yet to figure out how to unlock). There are also "Directed Shows" where they give you what action to do, i.e jump this or get close to that, and you fill it in with any object you choose. Its harder than it seems because you have to score a certain number of points in order to move on to the next challenge.

The first Stuntman I feel had a better variety of stunts within each movie. In this one its mostly action triggers (which dont always work, btw) and drift turns. I know they're supposed to be action movies, but it seems like there are many more explosions than are necessary. I find myself being blinded by explosions and not being able to see where I'm going. No level is possible to get through on one take. Mainly because either one stunt will screw you up for the rest of the run or the stunt coach wont tell you where to go until the last second.

My biggest criticism is the inconsistency. You can either hit something right and it wont give it to you, or you can have an average run then miss the big action shot, the "money shot" if you will, and it will still give you 3 stars. Each scene is rated out of 5 stars. Out of 6 or 7 movies with 6 scenes each I've only had five 5-star scenes. And most of those were fairly crappy takes. On takes that I thought were really good I'd get 2 or 3 stars. The other inconsistent thing is the extras/other drivers. My best example is that in once scene youre supposed to jump into a chopper that cant get its but over there in time. Even if I pause before I hit the jump, the helicopter pauses too so that when I do hit the jump I still miss it.

It's a nice change from the first game that you can now smash through almost everything. You'll still get hung up and stuck on small things, like getting glued to the corner if you clip it, but you wont get caught on a fence post anymore. You can even hit the camera crew without even getting penalized..which I'm not sure if really a good thing or not. Good for the gameplay, but not realistic of being an "actual" stuntman.

No real change in physics from the first game to this one. A light touch is still required for most turns and if you touch a car youre not supposed to they stop immediately and dont budge, usually causing you to fail the scene. In this game however, they let you control your rotation speed in the barrel roll jumps, which is fun in some ways, but is kinda cheap and making it too easy in others. This is also the first game I've found that utilizes the PS3's six-axis motion control system. Instead of using the joystick to steer, you physically turn the controller. I tried using it and its really hard. Once you play with the settings a bit and get used to it I'm sure its kinda fun, I just havent really used it yet. Dont expect huge changes when adjusting the sensitivity and the force feedback in the options menu. Changes of at least 25% are needed to be able to notice any real difference in handling.

Overall its a fun game. Still as frustrating as the first, but with expanded feature and very good graphics. Although I will admit that the movie variety on the first game was a tad better than on Ignition.

If you don't get the stunt right, you have to start over. This is not anything like the Stuntman games on PS2. I will give this game a few more tries, but my rating stays the same. It is more annoying than fun.

I had gotten my hands on a demo version, or maybe I rented this one? - Can't remember. Anyway, it was a blast! I had to have one for myself!
Many great things about this game, it's fast paced and can become addicting. I found the need to beat my own scores and challenging others
was another bonus with the multi-player mode.

Hard to put down the controller! This was absolutley the BEST driving game I've ever played!
