Towards the mid to late 80s there were a string of British of punk bands who steared away from the UK82, metallic crust, and anarcho punk music that was prevalent in the scene at that time and took their cues from American bands like SS Decontrol, Siege, Negative FX, Siege, Minor Threat, Siege, SOA, and of course Siege. The most prominent among these British bands were Heresy, Ripcord, and Intense Degree and were all known for their blistering and manic thrash played at grindcore speeds ala Siege. The Stupids were among these bands but they took their cues from the more snotty and skate obssessed American bands in the Necros and Gang Green. Their output just as good if not better then stuff of their peers and their sound would fit seamlessly onto This is Boston not LA

This collects their first three albums, demos and outtakes from that era. This British punk band played American-style skate-core; only the English accent gives them away. If you're a punk junkie, you need this fix! By the way, "Punk Junkies" by G.B.H. is good as well!

OK so you've your serious punk bands and your pi** takers and it doesn't take a genius to discover which category the stupids fit into.I had their album "peruvian vacation" on vinyl way back when, and thats what i bought this cd for. The other 54 tracks taken from various EP's and LP's released around the mid to late 80's vary in quality. The early stuff though not bad, for me really only serves to highlight that the band did become better players on future recordings, but neither it or the later, more polished, and superbly titled "retard picnic" match the speed core assault of peruvian.So if you like very fast after the fact british punk rock, and can overlook stupid lyrics and one or twenty take em or leave em tracks then "stupid is as stupid does" is for you!
