Leland Gregory has carved out a literary career by chronicling stupid behavior. He's cranked out over a dozen volumes covering Stupid Crooks, Stupid Politicians, etc. STUPID ON THE ROAD serves up 292 pages of idiocy on buses, cars, planes and trains. As with his other books, all published by Andrews McMeel, STUPID ON THE ROAD is a hoot.

Paging through this 2010 publication, you have to shake your head at how DUMB and/or THOUGHTLESS people can be. An Illinois native, knowing his teenage son was running late for a tennis date, decided to save time by flying him to the match. Unfortunately, to save even more time, he decided to skip landing at an airport and chose to land at the golf course across from the tennis complex! A 32-year-old Maryland woman, traveling on a chartered bus, decided to moon a passing car. As she pressed her butt against the window, it opened - imagine that! - and she fell out and broke several bones. An Australian mother of three was so drunk she decided to let her five-year-old son steer the car; how do we spell c-a-r c-r-a-s-h? Unable to find a mysterious rattle underneath a truck, a Michigan auto mechanic asked a friend to drive it while he hung undeneath to locate the noise. Unfortunately, his clothes got caught up in the drive shaft. The truck finished the drive OK; the mechanic didn't.

The tales are drawn from newspaper articles, police reports, accident reports, etc. from around the world.

Sad but true and funny too. Recommended.

I've purchased several hard-copies of LeLand Gregory's books and when I saw this in the store, I jumped on it. He has short blurbs on stupid situations that people get themselves into and it is very entertaining. A fun read that you'll probably pick up again, when you're killing some time or needing a quick laugh.

Another complilation of weird, stange, crazy and funny stuff that people do on the road, in the air, on trains and buses, and other places and locations where the word 'idiot' takes on its own special meaning. We have driving instructors getting busted for DWI, snakes on planes scaring ittle girls, flying money almost causing a riot, a man suing for lost taste and smell after an accident, and a discovery that roadways are dirtier after the work crew is fired. It's fun and interesting going from page to page, and finding out about the folly of human nature, which we likely knew anyway. Leland Gregory did a good job in illustrating how many of us go day-by-day, and somehow survive, and the species continues.

This e-book for the Kindle is so funny. I was having a lot going on that didn't allow a lot of laughter, but this book had me laughing outloud. It is an easy read since there are lots of short stories in there as well as one liners and pictures... if you need to laugh, read this.:-D

I've gotten a number of Leland Gregory's compilation books, such as Stupid American History and Stupid History. He presents lots of fun, obscure facts in an easy to read way. As Bill Crosby used to say "If you're not careful, you might learn something." This is a good chance to learn from the mistakes of others.

As in his other books, there are plenty of fun stories in here. Not all of them deal with roads. For example, there is a story here of one unfortunate man's vacation. He broke his ankle skydiving, and right after being released was bitten by a puffer fish. After getting a tetanus shot, his wheelchair wasn't properly secured in a park ride, and his nose was broken. Three hospital visits in 2 days.

Recommended.

Stupid on the Road: Idiots on Planes, Trains, Planes, Buses and Cars is funny and has some really good laughs in it. Some of the situations fall flat but on a whole Stupid on the Road: Idiots on Planes, Trains, Planes, Buses and Cars is what I'd call lite entertainment. Stupid on the Road: Idiots on Planes, Trains, Planes, Buses and Cars is very readable. The funny situations aren't delivered with a lot of back-story of the kind that cops provide. I found that knowing the backstory of some funny events gives us missing context that add to the humor of situations. I have found that funny criminal and stupid people books are much funnier when correctional officers, police officers and ex-military folks tell the tales. Military, policement and correctional officers are trained to tell stories in a way that better preserves the context of a funny situation making the reading far more enjoyable. Stupid on the Road: Idiots on Planes, Trains, Planes, Buses and Cars does an ok job of building context but it is far from great at building the strong backstory that leads to intense humor. Stupid on the Road: Idiots on Planes, Trains, Planes, Buses and Cars is an enjoyable book but lacking the funny back story to many situations dulls the impact of many of the humorous situations it shares.

All these books about the dumb stuff people do are funny, but not real works of art...After all..They just report the incidents as reported to law enforcement and insurance companies. I would have liked to see more of the actual reports to insurance companies. Some people really don't know how to express themselves on paper.....Those were really funny. So were the actual answers to some of the written driving tests.

this was a gift for my husband. He really liked it. I could hear him laughing while he sat at the kitchen table drinking coffee and reading.

Got this for my husband as a stocking stuffer and when It arrived I read a few pages and just had to laugh out loud. He enjoyed it so much I some for the men in our family. We travel a lot and I don't always want to use and e-reader or iPhone, etc. Sometimes I just like to hold a real book. Although this is a paperback it is easy to carry and a joy to read. If you have ever traveled long distances or short ones this is a great way to break up boredom and share with other passengers. Got it on time and in excellent condition.
