Not the book u want for info on the 10/22 or .44 mag Carbine,

If u want complete info on the Ruger 10/22 and the .44 mag Carbine this book comes up way short. The info it provides is stilted, out dated and sometimes totally inaccurate. The book u want is The Ruger 10/22 by William Workman. It contains much more complete up to date and accurate info (as well as MUCH better pictures)

Not a bad book but lacking much info on the 44 Carbines. I have gleaned more info and pics from the Ruger advertising brochures I have here at home !!! :-(
Book could have included more photos of the various models of both 10/22 and 44 carbine.

Good information,
This review is from: Sturm, Ruger 10/22 Rifle and .44 Magnum Carbine (Paperback)
Sturm, Ruger 10/22 Rifle and .44 Magnum Carbine by Duncan Long is an excellent reference book for these 2 Ruger designs of which the 10/22 has become one of the most popular .22 rifles ever produced. All topics addressed in the book are of value, however, I only wish there had been more information on the .44 Magnum. A summary of the specific years produced and production numbers would be of value. More history is always helpful. But, overall it is a nice resource for these 2 significant Ruger rifles.

If they had gun night on Family Feud and the question was, "What was your first rifle?", the number one answer would no doubt be the Ruger 10/22. If you are part of the 'next generation' of Ruger 10/22 owners, this book is a helpful addition to your library. The book is not only a paean to this classic 22 rifle (with a brief history of the origins of the rifle and the Sturm-Ruger corporation), but also includes:>>> An extensive chapter on care and maintenance including exploded diagrams of the rifle and the trigger assembly. >>> A chaper on variations of the 10/22 (you will be amazed at the ways this rifle can be altered). >>> A nifty chapter on accessories for the 10/22 (everything imaginable). >>> A chaper on ammunition (interesting read). If you own a Ruger 10/22 or are thinking about purchasing one, I would heartily recommend this book--especially to the 'first rifle' crowd. |
