Book Description

August 7, 2012 Breeds
Window Rock, Arizona, is the last known location of Honor Roberts, who vanished when she was just thirteen. It was her only sanctuary from the Breed research that would surely have ended in her death—one such insidious experiment should, indeed, have killed her. That she lived is both a miracle—and a great mystery.

Stygian’s mission is to find Honor Roberts, no matter the cost. Now, with the help of Liza Johnson, assistant to the chief of the Navajo Nation, he is closer than ever to his goal. But will the discovery of Honor Roberts mean the destruction of the mating heat that has developed between Stygian and Liza?

3.0 out of 5 stars Stygian's Honor and Spoilers August 7, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Stygian's Honor by Lora Leigh is the 27th book in the Breed Series and in this book wolf breed Stygian and his mate Lisa Johnson must find Honor Roberts in order to save Jonas and Rachel's daughter Amber and Honor might be closer than anybody thinks(besides Jonas of course). In S.H. there's actual progress (they do find Honor and the title reveals who Honor Roberts really is although I felt dumb when I didn't catch that) but it's tiny progress and it leaves you with more questions than answers so basically it's back to square one... well... square three really since the breeds do find Honor Roberts and Fawn Corrigan. To finish the cure to save Amber they need breeds Judd and Gideon.

So basically to sum it all up this book was about a mated breed pair, a big case of mistake and identity and a wild goose chase.

And not to upset any lions, bengals, wolfs and coyotes but I thought this book was a bit boring. Yes, I am always eager to read about new mated breed couples but after 27 books mating heat the readers can spot a mile away and could name the symptoms off the top of their heads. Mating heat isn't a surprise anymore and by now we know all the ways Lora Leigh makes the mated pair deal with mating heat.

Feelings when dealing with mating heat include: disbelief, anger, control issues, fear, jealousy, etc.

As far as mating heat goes we know the routine so there's no real surprises regarding it anymore at least to me.

I was interested in the search for Honor Roberts although I thought Honor was still a child. At least that's what Lora Leigh describes Diane looking for a child who survived leukemia but after rereading Lawe's Justice I discovered Lora Leigh does say Honor is an adult now.

There is the tiniest tiniest bit of a chance Dog has found his mate but you know how Lora Leigh likes to keep the readers guessing on mated pairs.

Lora Leigh still needs an editor.

I give this book 3 stars

3.0 out of 5 stars Actually, I'd say 2-1/2 stars August 10, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Spoilers ahead-----
I generally enjoy Lora Leigh's Breed series but there are some books that are better than others. This one is not the best. Not the worst but definitely towards the bottom. I mostly agree with the other reviewers about the weird time gaps, a lot of characters running around and a very abrupt ending.

My main problem is that I really started to get bored and frustrated with the story (or lack there of). Several chapters were basically the same - the Navajo Nation and the Breeds come together to viciously argue over helping Jonas's daughter, everyone stomps off, Stygian and Liza have sex, Liza says she'll be destroyed; repeat. The whole while we all know that Liza is really Honor and everyone everyone else is stupid for not seeing it.

My second problem is that everyone claims that they would do anything to help the little girl....except, well, admit that Liza is Honor. Including Jonas. He knows who she is but doesn't say it out loud, he just hopes that the mating heat will take care of it. The mating heat seems to be the magically cure for any issues that need to be resolved and I'm getting tired of it.

Thirdly, I'm so bored with all of the sex scenes that I'm starting to *gasp* skip over them. They're all the same and there seem to be more sex scenes than actual story. And the story that we do have does not advance very far. By the end, we're almost at the point where we started.

I'd suggest you not waste your time with this book and wait until Ms. Leigh writes the book where all four survivors are found. I'm sure she'll rehash everything in that book, anyway. Hopefully, we'll all still care by then.

1.0 out of 5 stars So disappointed! August 10, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I loved this series. I am saddened by its decline. The plot for this book was contrived and a big mess. I struggled to finish the book, although I am not sure why I bothered. The last few books in the series lack all the passion and spark that originally made the series so unique. I've never returned a book, but I wanted to get my money back on this one.

Rule Breaker's Mate
Well it has been awhile since I have been here, and I thought it was time to return. Lawe's Justice, he mates with Diane, who is Rachael sister, In Jacob's Faith, they talked about Charity, and Honor Roberts, I believe that is who will be Stygian mate. I have recently started to reread the Breed... Read more

Amber Storyline [warning: rant]
I want the Amber s/l to end. I also want whiney Rachel to go away. She paired up Jonas way too early IMO. Now she's got to get "mates" for Rachel's family members. What is it with family and pack? Once one of your sisters gets hooked up the rest of you have to be too?

Its bad writing.... Read more
