Tonic for your soul,

I discovered Tonic Sol-Fa by accident at the state fair last week. I hadn't been to the fair in several years, but some friends of mine from out of town talked me into going. Then, looking only for a place to sit down and eat, we happened upon the public stage where this excellent group was playing. Wow. What a great sound, totally unlike anything else out there. We were all hooked from the first note. They were performing Eleanor Rigby when we first walked up, then jumped into Man Of Constant Sorrow---a tune I've loved ever since I saw O Brother Where Art Thou, & now have a favorite version of thanks to T.S. After that none of us wanted to leave. Tonic Sol-Fa is awesome, unique, and have a sound people of all ages seem to just love. The crowd was going wild. Do yourself a favor and check out this remarkable talent for yourself. I never thought I was a fan of A cappella before, but now I may have to rethink my views, certainly at least where Tonic Sol-Fa is concerned. As we sat there listening happily, it actually took me 3 or 4 songs to even realize the only instrument they were playing was a single tambourine. Simply amazing. Highly recommended. If you ever get the chance to see them live, by all means go for it, but don't cheat yourself by waiting when they have CD's available. And check out their cool web site at: tonicsolfa.com, for info, tour dates, bios, contacts and more.

Vocal Magic,
By
This review is from: Style (Audio CD)
This band is one of the finest vocal bands I have ever heard. If they had been around in the 1950's in Brooklyn, we would be hearing them being mentioned in the same breath as Dion and the Belmonts and all the other great vocal groups of the time.
I was first introduced to them by A Prarie Home Companion. They were there because of their new disc "From Boston to Bejing" (buy that one NOW, too). Their voices were made to sing together; their arrangements are just about perfect, and the only problem I have with this disc is that it is far too short! All the songs are geat, but there are three stand out trax; Eleanor Rigby, Man of Constant Sorrow, and Oklahoma Wind. If there was any justice in the music business, this band would be a household name.

This CD is Great!! I have almost every Tonic Sol Fa CD and I listen to them everyday. These four very talented guys know how to capture your attention and keep it throughout an entire song, album, and show. I love this CD, the Eleanor Rigby and Witchy Woman covers are awesome, and I would rather listen to them sing it than the original artists. The songs on this CD will be enjoyed by the young and the old, and If you ever get a chance to see Tonic Sol Fa perform live you will love them!!!

In the first release as the current 4 members, Tonic Sol-fa made a giant splash. This CD is one of their finest showcasing their writing, arranging and singing talents all in one place. There are songs that are a cappella lover's dreams, songs that rock, and songs that pull at your heart strings. While all their CD's are amazing, this CD is a definite can't miss!

My first experience hearing Tonic Sol Fa was at one of thier amazing concerts. People were screaming like it was the Beatles landing again. I was amazed at thier talent and ability. I went home and promptly bought three of thier amazing CD's. Tonic Sol Fa CD's are always good buys, with Style being no exception. I suggest this CD and if you can see them in concert, go for it, you won't be sorry!

A Cappella is my favorite style of music. You definately need to have a lot of talent in order to perform it. I have seen Tonic Sol-Fa four times and own every CD they've recorded including their earlier two CD's. Their show is full of energy and humor. I would HIGHLY recommend this CD for everybody's music library. Even better, SEE THEM LIVE!!! Always impressive. Thanks guys.!

A MINNESOTA FAVORITE! True musicians and true gentlemen. The Style CD depicts the true flavor that is Tonic Sol-fa. You need to experience it for yourself to understand what it is that keeps fans coming back again and again. This album is the perfect combination of toe-taping remixes and orignals, traditionals, and laughs. ENJOY!Be sure to pick up their 2002 holiday album entitled Sugarue. |
