3.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee table book
I am really enjoying browsing this enormous volume. Great photos and information and as someone with a casual interest in decorating and interior design, it's great. I also love the hot red-pink color of the book. It's very dramatic looking. The author's text is a little pompous at times but overall I found it useful. This review is from: Styles: Compendium of Interior (Hardcover)
Books on furniture and styles have lately been written as thou they are a catalog. At the college I attend, one of the instructors has written a book about Modern Furniture and frankly... it looks like an assemblied catalog. This book how ever is done with care to show not only the piece of furniture (the problem with other furnirute books) but rather shows the piece in its nature surroundings. Photos are from the actually castle, mansions or current home owners own settings. Modern furniture is shown as it used by the average person and not marketed to the masses. The photos are clear, warm, inviting and sometimes funny as well. Styles: Compendium of Interior was written as thou it was produced for a college interior design course. And I truly wish this was the book my instructor was using instead of the one they now offer. I have recommended this book to the college and I recommend it to you. This is a must have book for furniture collectors, interior design students or anyone who loves mansions. This book is thick and difficult to put down......that's a very good thing.

I also love the hot red-pink color of the book. It's very dramatic looking. The author's text is a little pompous at times but overall I found it useful. It's not really an academic text on the subject and may be less informative for someone with more knowledge on the subject.
