Classic Doll Clothes - Limited Only bt Your Imagination, October 5, 2008
This review is from: Simple & Stylish Patterns for 18-Inch Dolls' Clothing (Creative Crafters) (Paperback)
Nice batch of garments, basic patterns, that can be embellished to taste; variations in color, fabric, trim make the patterns yours.
The patterns in this book are for 18" girl dolls with a 10" waist.
The clothes are classic dolls' clothes -- 1940s - 1950s -- made to fit the slim body girl dolls (Gotz/Goetz, Magic Attic, Euro Girls*).
Instructions are given for scaling patterns and/or for lengthening, widening within the pattern (not on the seam lines), which would need to be done for American Girls, which are on the obese side, with a 12" chest and waist. The waist size on the AGs varies depending on the doll and its owner, as they are soft-body dolls and can have their waists compacted somewhat over time by use, by wearing belts and/or ribbon ties.
The wrist size on the AGs is 3-1/2" in circumference, as opposed to 2-3/4" on the Magic Attic dolls, and this is hard vinyl/plastic.
Worth noting also is that the clothes have high necklines on them, which is suitable for the AG dolls, as the AG cloth body reaches up to the neck and needs to be covered; so, although the patterns need to be adjusted for size to fit the AG dolls, the styling of the clothing is suitable for them. The Magic Attic (and Madame Alexander 18" dolls) have shoulders and part of chest made of plastic/vinyl, so their necklines can be exposed.
* I don't have a fitting model of the Euro Girls or the West Coast Kids, which are about the same size as each other; they may be even slimmer than the "slim body" 18" dolls to which these patterns are fitted.

Patterns for 18-inch dolls' clothing, June 10, 2007
This review is from: Simple & Stylish Patterns for 18-Inch Dolls' Clothing (Creative Crafters) (Paperback)
These seem to be for the American Girls dolls for the 1950's and 1960's...not so much for "modern" clothes.

Disappointed, December 7, 2008
This review is from: Simple & Stylish Patterns for 18-Inch Dolls' Clothing (Creative Crafters) (Paperback)
I was disappointed that there were no actual pattern pieces included in the back of the book. The patterns are pictures but it gives no suggestions as to the best way to actually use the pattern pictures, either by tracing them or some other method.
