New York, possibly the world's most vibrant and energizing city, abounds with a wide range of shops, spots and restaurants—an abundance of riches, but where to start? Cleverly arranged into loops of interest such as "Jewelry & Hardware," "Haberdashery & Handmade" and "Furniture & Interiors," The Stylist's Guide to NYC takes the first-time visitor—or long-time resident—on surprising and beguiling journeys, uncovering traditional merchants and hidden sanctuaries as well as some of the coolest spots in town. This collection of stores, services, galleries, markets, and places to eat also contains city survival tips, maps, and comprehensive indexes. With an idiosyncratic and impeccable eye, Court celebrates the beautiful, the curious and the unexpected, making this an indispensible accessory for anyone visiting, working or living in New York. Includes foldout map plus two pockets for souvenir tickets, cards and more.

Mostly though it's a beautiful picture book, whose photos of store interiors will very likely inspire your own interior design.

This is a totally fun and inspiring read if you like to shop, and more importantly, if you love to look at cool stuff.

This book is set up like a travel guide - there are some basics at the start about transportation (taxis, subways, etc; tips for having purchases delivered to hotels), when to go to New York, etc.

I live about an hour from NYC, so I don't need a travel guide, but I still LOVE this stylist's guide. There are places mentioned in the book that i already know of, and many i didn't know of. Many of the places she outlines have been around for a very long time, so the guide should be useful for a few years. I was worried that it might seem like an other 'travel' book - quickly outdated. But it doesn't come across that way, because there are so many established places described. Occasionally my husband and i go for an overnight, so next time i'm going to stop into some of the places i have marked with sticky notes.

As a bonus, the book itself is nicely and stylishly laid out, with interesting and curious pictures. It's fun to look at and to read!

i've been reading this little by little--it is certainly thorough and brings you through a tour of every neighborhood and unknown corner of NYC! I'll have to check out some of these places! Format is user friendly and the book itself has a nice feel to it--pictures and paper.

Breaks the mould on guide books. You dont even need to be travelling to NYC to enjoy this view of the city.

This is a cool book if you're just into doing home stuff. When I hear stylist's you think there might be some fashion and trendy places involved, but not really. There's a few restaurants, coffee shops & random places thrown in, but eh. Plus some of the food/coffee stops she'd recommend aren't that great. Like I said: cool book, neat pictures, occasional neat place, but mostly if you're a DIY-er.

It is a style of late to have photos* that are slightly grayed, on the dreamy side,
not crisp & distinct. It is actually hard to make out some details, and while they
are very artistic, I'd like them better if they were sharper images.
