If ever a band called for a 5.1 mix, STYX is it!,

If ever a band called for a 5.1 mix, STYX is it! And this one doesn't disappoint. The rear channels here are used liberally and really let you bask in the multi-layers of instrumentation and vocals on the recording.
Regarding the album itself, this is STYX in their finest form! (I waited way too long to purchase it.) It's an album of great songs treated to brilliant arrangements and performances. These guys are unsurpassed at their craft. This incarnation of the band has certainly earned the right to use the name Styx. The last release with Dennis DeYoung, Brave New World, was good, but Dennis' songs sounded out of place. This album sees the band freed up to do what it does best: Rock!

Stygian goodness. A release I'd not really paid much attention to, but I should have. A good rocker, that sounds like Styx. This is my first experience with DVD-audio in 5.1 channels. I like it! VERY clean sound and great channel separation, with a lot going on in the back channels. Takes me back to the old days of quadraphonic. I've always liked Styx, and this one does not disappoint.
