I bought this game after seeing some of the screenshots and videogames.com At first the it seemed like this game was gonna be boring, but after the second mission this game was hella fun...I like how you can go above water and kill helicopters and big battle ships...the radar is really cool too...another cool thing i like about this game is how you can find buried artifacts to get money and then buy new upgrades for you ship...Im gonna try finding all the hidden artifats to beat the game 100%I definitely recommend this game...its totally fun and not like the other boring games out there

NEVER GETS OLD,

This game is very very addicting. There is nothing else like it. How many Navy/water games have you seen? This is one of my all-time FAVORITES now. My only complaint is that you can not see through the periscope. It is strictly an attack sub profile...shooting at other underwater targets. The few surface targets can only be attacked on the surface with rockets, NOT torpedos. As long as you realize this is an attack sub scenario and that 90% of your targets are other submerged targets, you'll have a BLAST!! Also this has arcade type graphics. Don't be expecting true realism.

It will take a couple of minutes to figure out how to manever your submarine, but once you get your sea legs this game is a BLAST! I find that I really enjoying the underwater dogfights with other submarines, slower than air combat in simulation games but really engaging, you'll play this game for hours and hours at a time.
The back story isn't much, but it's easy to ignore. The enemies are challenging without being impossible to beat. Diving below 140 meters will cause hull damage to your submarine. The graphics are pretty good. The gameplay is excellent, really absorbing, which is exactly what I wanted in a game like this one. Really a fun game, a favorite of mine.

I went in buying this thinking it would be like a real submarine. It's far from being realistic. The only reason I continued to play it from the 1st few scenes is because I was really bored of the good games that I had and was hoping that perhaps even though it wasn't what I expected that maybe it would progress. I played it half hazardly for 2 days and usually I get really into to any game I even somewhat like. It's more of an illusionary game than realistic and I wouldn't recomend it to older gamers but youthful people may find it interersting. I'm more into realistic battle game. I mean even if you based it on unknown technology let's face it --- it was a bomb.. I felt like I was playing a graphic form of astroids not a submarine game. Some of the scenic graphics were ok but that's about the only plus I can see. The controls take awhile to learn but after that it's not very challenging. If you like militaristic / realistic combat save your money. Sorry to rip it up I see a lot of you enjoyed it but I got a differing opinion. I only gave it 2 stars not 1 because they did put some programming genious into it.

Leave it to Irem to take a risk and knock it out of the park. Sub rebellion is a 3rd person arcade-style underwater shooter that is hard to compare to anything else. The only thing that comes close might be Warship Gunner 2, but in that game, there is no exploration, only combat. Sub rebellion combines underwater combat, boss battles, exploration, and even action-rpg elements as you uncover buried treasure to fund the development of weapons and defenses for your sub.
There are several area types; I.e., coastal waters, arctic seas, underwater caves, deep-sea trenches, etc., but there are several levels for each area type. You can visit any level you've beaten as many times as you want, in case you missed hidden treasures the first time through. This increases replayability quite a bit, as the more treasure you uncover, the better weapons you can buy. Combat is slower than, say, Starfox, but no less intense. Because battles tend to be deliberately paced, tactics are called for, and if you go into battle without a plan, you're likely to get deep-sixed. Because of that, victories over even minor enemies carry impact and satisfaction. I love this game. Love love love this game. Love it. I bought it when it first came out, and still play it today. I desperately wish Irem would consider a sequel, but since the chances for one are pretty slim, I take great comfort in the fact that this game is so long, challenging and fun.

This game is un-like any other I've played on the PS2. It's challenging at first, but after you master the controls, it's very fun. It's a good premise and the story-line and action are good.

VERY UNIQUE GAME, WHICH MAKES IF EVEN MORE FUN. THERE ARE NO OTHER SUBMARINE GAMES OUT THERE THAT I KNOW OF. MY ONLY CON IS THAT THERE IS NO PERISCOPE FOR SURFACE TARGETS, ONLY MISSLES FIRED FROM THE SURFACE.
