Thomas Ogden's "Subjects of Analysis",
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Subjects of Analysis (Paperback)
The author, Thomas Ogden, elucidates foundational ideas from the major object relations theorists and gives excellent examples of how they have enriched his practice. He also suggests several new concepts, among them "I-ness," to replace constructs such as "ego" and "self" which suggest the presence of discrete psychic structures localizable within human beings. Instead, Ogden conceptualizes a psychoanalysis consisting of ongoing reflexive interplay between various domains--for example,"conscious and unconscious," "past and present," "fantasy and reality"--processes in which subjectivity is not reified but better represented as a movement or dialectic.
