5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Sublime Fan
I have all of the Sublime CDs and yes, I have every song on this track. I am still going to buy it, though, to add to my collection. Skunk Records could do a lot better, I agree.

2.0 out of 5 stars I love Sublime and these songs, just not the cd.
All in all i'm going to be brief. I'm really angry that this thing was even packaged, it's meant to capitolize on the death of Brad Nowell which is a really sad thing. Brad is my favorite singer ever and this music is by all means great, but instead you'd be much better off buying 40 Oz. To Freedom, Robbin The Hood, and Sublime. The real cds.

This thing is just a rehashing of a meager ten songs and misses out on a lot of their greatest songs like Rivers Of Babylon, Right Back, Seed, Same In The End, Boss MC, DJs, etc....

You can't package a band that is as good as Sublime into 10 songs and call it their "greatest", they're too good, every one of their songs is great and this lacks a ton of my favorites. Pick up the first 3 Sublime cds, the acoustic and live cds, and the DVD, avoid this.

3.0 out of 5 stars What is This?, December 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sublime: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This CD is a disgrace to Sublime. I mean, 10 songs?! All of Sublime's recordings have about 20 tracks each, and whoever compiled this actually thinks that 10 songs do these musical geniuses justice? I just don't understand. OK, I admit, the songs included on this CD are good, but they are nothing but the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Sublime. Where are songs like Right Back, KRS-1, Boss DJ, Greatest Hit, Don't Push; the songs that truely represent what Sublime was about. This CD is nothing but a poor corperate attempt to make money off of Bradley's death and to get every dollar they can out of the Sublime name. I just don't understand why they would even bother putting this out. Where are Same In The End, Waiting For My Ruca, Caress Me Down, Get Ready (The Bong Song for those of you who own Sinsemilla)? This CD is missing a whole lot, and to tell you the truth, it makes me sick to think that it even exists. Where is Jailhouse, or Romeo? It baffles me why the people responsible for this abbomination even attempted a Greatest Hits LP. Every Sublime song is appealing and has so many aspects to it, that to single out 10 songs that are basically just mainstream Sublime songs doesn't do them justice. So, basically, to anyone who can truely call themself a Sublime fan, this CD is a total waste of money. If you are just getting into Sublime and want a little taste of what they are about, this LP will get you started, but it is in no way a testiment to what Sublime truely is. It gets 3 stars simply because no Sublime CD deserves to have 1.

2.0 out of 5 stars How About Somebody makes a REAL Sublime Greatest Hits CD, June 18, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Sublime: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Sublime is one of the best bands of all time, and to make a Greatest Hits album that only features 10 songs is a disgrace. There are so many Sublime songs left off this album that it is even hard to begin. They left off great songs such as Same in the End, April 29 1992, Waiting for my Ruca, and Dont Push, but that is not all. I am an owner of all 6 sublime albums (2nd Hand Smoke, Self-Titled, 40 oz., Robbin Da Hood, Acoustic, and Stand by your Van) and there were so many tracks that were great songs but were not as well-known but should definitely make any compilation of their best songs such as Pawn Shop, Ballad of Johnny Butt, Caress me Down, Were Only Gonna die from our own Arrogance, and Rivers of Babylon.

I think somebody should make a real Sublime CD to truly showcase all of their great songs, not just the 10 biggest radio hits.

3.0 out of 5 stars DIE HARD SUBLIME FAN!, January 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sublime: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I have seven of sublime's c.d.'s (40oz.,robbin the hood, self titled, second hand smoke, live, acoustic, greatest hits.) They are my favorite band and all but this album was a disappointment. It did not have very good songs on it if you ask me. Why was it only 10 songs long? Heres an idea for the future, how about a c.d. with only the rare tracks that are only on the bootleg albums?

3.0 out of 5 stars Response to another Review: They were making money before!, November 27, 1999
By
Brian Shooshan (Cape Cod, Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sublime: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I am sorry to see that Sublime has released another album of tracks that are already recorded, but I still don't think that they are "cashing in" on Bradley's death. I say "BOO" the man that claims they are. I read a review that claimed Sublime had made no money before Bradley's death, this is a complete lie and if he really knew the band, he would know that they were HUGE in So.Cal. and that they were being played by kids everywhere. They had already released 40 oz. and Robbin' the Hood before the self titled album had blown up, and these albums made them quite a bit of money. The reviewer in question should stick to reviewing bands that they are familiar with so that in the future he doesn't make himself look like a jackass!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD, but not enough, March 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sublime: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is a good CD. It does have Sublime's best songs but too much from the self titled CD. The best songs are from 40oz. and Robbin'. Even songs from SHS were really good (Had a DAT, Romeo). And really, did Sublime have only 10 songs worth putting on this CD? They forgot Greatest Hits, Ebin, Lets Get Stoned, All You Need and many others. The point is good CD, But too little sublime songs from their Golden Age.

3.0 out of 5 stars Under 28 minutes!, November 15, 1999

This review is from: Sublime: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
You can read the other reviews for music analysis, but you should know that the album is under 28 minutes long -- which seems extraordinarily cheap.
