We purchased this book for my son who loves anything to do with the military. The pictures and information in the book are neat. Unfortunately, the actual size of this book is TINY. It's my own fault for not noticing the size description before purchasing. I would have preferred a larger sized book for a small child. For the price, I would still buy again since the information it contained was good.

It's a very cute book! My husband is a Submariner and I wanted to get something for him to read to the kids (4ys & 1.5yrs) to let them know what he did at work without being too complex for them to understand. Both kids love it. My oldest likes learning about everything her dad does at work and my youngest just likes looking at the pictures.

The book itself has one or two simple sentences per page so I'm confident that it's something my daughter will be able to learn to read by herself. The price is right, it's perfectly sized for smaller hands, and has wonderfully bright pictures. I definitely recommend it to anyone with kids wanting to learn more about where Dad's gone and what he does while he's on the boat.

I bought this (along with some other books and toys) for my eldest child's fourth birthday last year.

It is tough to find books on submarines, which was something that he was really interested in at the time (and still is from time to time). This book is educational and has great photos. He loves to explain to people how submarines are made to sink or to rise to the surface. The book is succinct but informative, and contains just the right amount of information for this age group.
