Book Description

My name is Olivia Sharpe. I live in glitzy Las Vegas at the top of the Sharpe Hotel and Casino, shut away from the world just the way I like it.

Five years ago, the first and only time I gave myself to a man, something terrible happened. Since then, I’ve remained isolated where no one can hurt me. Recently, in a moment of weakness, of desperate loneliness, I called someone. Some call him gigolo, others call him an escort, rent-boy, or a male prostitute. I call him Dillon.

I had only meant to paint him, to capture his tan muscled physique, those chiseled features, that captivating smile on canvas. However, what started out as one call turned into two, into three…Then everything changed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been so much better! September 3, 2012
By Kiki

This book had the setting to be a REALLY great book. I loved how the author developed Olivia, although she really didn't help me get to know Dillion (the escort).

**SPOILER ALERT** DON'T READ THIS PART. When the book ended, it left me completely hanging. What happened to Dillon? What's with buying her painting and not even seeing her? Was it all sex and nothing else? Was she one of many sexual partners the entire time? The ending was very flat. I gave it three stars because I really enjoyed the book up until the last chapter when it was rushed, left you hanging and very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unusual read, but in a good way August 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I though this book would be another Damaged Goods (which I thoroughly enjoyed, by the way), but it wasn't. POSSIBLE SPOILERS: The book begins by introducing the reader to the reclusive heroine. What we see of her daily existence is actually quite intriguing. Due to her lack of socializing, she feels it necessary to hire an escort for a function she must attend. As the hero and heroine get to know one another, the chemistry between the two is almost tangible. Because of their intense chemistry, I found myself becoming inpatient for the couple to do "the deed." but the wait was sure worth it---the author writes a touching love scene in which the heroine rediscovers her sexual being...and there are more scorching scenes to follow.

I wondered how the heroine could care for a man who was no more than a high-priced prostitute. But he turns out to be an honorable man who gives the heroine exactly what she needs: patience, understanding, love and a renewed sense of life. However, I must say that I did not like the ending...I would have appreciated more of a developed HEA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful and mildly sexy read February 24, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a nicely plotted, well-written novel. The concept of a young agoraphobic artist daring to venture toward freedom (both socially and sexually) with the help of a hired male escort is... well, a bit unusual. How fortunate that she was so bloody rich that she could blow $300/hour on that kind of "therapy"!
If you're looking for steamy erotica, this is not the novel for you. Yes, it's rather sexy and a tad titillating, but there are no intense sex scenes. Even so, this erotica fan enjoyed the story.
The main weakness in the novel is that the primary conflict (can she overcome her profound self-doubts about herself as a sexual person and also venture outside her seclusion in a luxurious Vegas hotel suite) can only be stretched for so many chapters. Early on, the reader realizes that she will overcome her doubts and fears, so it becomes only a question of "when and how"? No unexpected barriers occur to block her emotional and sexual progress, and some readers might tire of the drawn-out pace.
FINAL NOTE: This is a talented writer and I look forward to more from her.

I was really excited to read this book. I liked the whole concept of a girl with a tragic past hiding in her condo because she suffered something horrific. Olivia needs to go to a charity even that is hosted by her father. Not wanting to worry her dad anymore that she never interacts with people, she looks up a male escort on the internet for date. This way she does not have to interact any more than she has to. She just needs to get through the night. However, what Olivia does not expect is the handsome and charismatic escort, Dillon.

Dillon was very likable. He just seemed so down to earth. I can't think of any other words to describe this guy. I think he brought out the best in Olivia. Almost god sent. He made her laugh, he made her feel comfortable, he was kind and he brought no drama to her life. He did not judge.

I think what happened to Olivia that made her close herself off from society, happens to a lot of girls. I just think that many are just too afraid to admit it. It may not seem like something that drastic, but I think I can see how it can really mess up with someone feeling safe.

I was glad to hear from the author that there is going to be a sequel, because I do not like the way it ended at all. If there was not going to be a sequel, I was going to give it 3 stars. It was very matter of fact kind of ending. I don't know how else to say it without giving it away. I am wondering about something in the book, but not sure if I want it answered.

I am glad I read it. I cannot pass a book with a gigolo in it. *smiley face with a wink* I will be checking out more books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! September 9, 2012
By Shelley

Submersed is the first novel by Rachelle Vaughn I have read so I was unsure what to expect. I loved the characters. The story had enough eroticism to be an exciting read but what captivated me was the journey of healing that Olivia had to face. Being a fan of Las Vegas, I loved the setting of the novel as well.
