This is an evidence tape done right! Professor Goode gives the black letter law in as clear and concise a manner as possible, cites the Federal Rule number, explains it, gives an example or two, and then summarizes the rule before moving onto the next one. He throws in the right amount of policy discussion for good measure--just enough to be useful for essay writing, but not so much as to overwhelm the task of issue spotting. To top it all off, he even (almost) sounds like Sam Waterston of Law & Order fame. Perfect! Any student taking evidence law should give this one a try.

These CDs are excellent. I listened to them 2-3 times during the semester while driving in the car. I managed to get an A on the closed-book exam without ever reading the casebook (Waltz & Park). I just used these CDs, plus the Law in a Flash cards, and I read a classmate's Legalines the day before the exam. I did attend class and take notes. The mnemonics were a lifesaver on my closed-book exam. I will definitely be using them on the bar!

These CDs were an excellent resource to review Evidence topics. The lectures were well organized and the speaker emphasized important concepts and often repeated rules for you to remember.

Since I commute to my law school, I habitually listen to Sum and Substance CDs whenever they are available for the course I'm taking. These CDs are the best I've used. The lecturer is an excellent speaker and kept my attention throughout the 8+ hours of lectures. He provided very helpful mnemonics and explained concepts thoroughly but succinctly. Because he explained the trickiest concepts in memorable ways, I often thought back to his lectures as I analyzed the hypos on my professor's exam. I know for certain that I would not have known the answers to multiple questions had I not listened to the CDs.

The lecturer, Steven Goode, is also one of the editors of the Courtroom Evidence Handbook, Student Edition, which my professor taught from, so if that is a required book for your class these CDs will probably be even more helpful, as they address some of the same intricacies as those in the handbook's commentary.

I love these CDs, as well as Goode's courtroom handbook for mock trial which he did with Wellbourne, another UT professor. I initially used both resources to learn evidence as a 1L for a mock trial tournament before actually taking the course, and then used the CDs again to review for my Evidence final my 2L year. I got an A+ in Evidence and these CDs were a big help.

Evidence was the toughest class I took in law school. I would have been lost without this supplement! I do think the Rossi Law School Legends one is a bit better. But because I struggled so much with this class (largely because of my professor -- eekkk!) I thought it was important to use each and every supplement possible.

This is a great resource for attorneys and law students. For the former, it is a good refresher; for the latter, it is a good supplement to an evidence class; and for both, it is easy to use and convenient in that you can listen to it at home or in the car. To reiterate, it is a great resource.

The Evidence law CD set by Professor Goode is the best of all 17 law CD series I have listened to. His voice is easy to listen to. He explains well. The mneumonics he provides are helpful.
