Karen Eleanor Wight grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, a tiny town of 17,000 people where, incidentally, she met Patrick Nysveen at the age of eleven at Byng School. She moved to sunny and mild California to attend school and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Theatre Arts. After college, like many actors, she has had a variety of jobs including seamstress, costume designer, temporary employee, and substitute. You may notice her picture looks awful lot like a headshot -- very perceptive on your part, because it is. Shameless self-promotion is the key in the entertainment business. Back to this author thing: her previous writing credits include a limerick and haiku in third grade. She is looking for a warm, single, fun-loving male in his late eighties who is financially secure and owns a private island in the Caribbean. A deep desire to finance plays, movies, and sitcoms starring Karen would be a bonus (oh yeah, and publish books when necessary). His name must be Patrick as she only keeps company with men of that name. Please call soon, as this starving artist thing is getting old.

The Substitute Teacher's Survival Guide,
By Kathy (Cathedral City, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Substitute Teacher's Survival Guide (Paperback)
This book was written to be humorous, but it isn't. It also is not helpful, let alone a survival guide, and it was a huge waste of money...($$$).

I thought this book had so much insight into the world of Substitute Teaching. It starts with the basics which you are assumed to know but don't until you've experienced it. I loved this book because through Karen & Pat's comedic experiences which they share with the reader, I was able to find out info of what to expect the first time subbing. You should purchase it even if you don't sub. It's so funny and Patrick Nysveen's pictures just add the needed touch. Kudos to Karen & Pat. This book ROCKS!!

GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
By mary hull (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Substitute Teacher's Survival Guide (Paperback)
This is a great book that gives all those little details ( that NOBODY else ever tells you) necessary for surviving substitute teaching. The authors give excellent suggestions regarding what to wear, what to do when there are no lesson plans as well as how to go about becoming a substitute teacher. The information is delivered with a great sense of humor that takes some of the intimidation out of going into the classroom. This is a very entertaining book!
