The Gentle Muse by Sandra G. Kelly,
By April May Rollins (Ashuelot, NH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Subtle Expressions (Paperback)
It is said that poetry calms the savage beast and gives flight to the soul of any man. I have also found that excellent poetry that carries the reader into its depths of passion and pain is a rare treasure but I must say that is exactly what Sandra G. Kelly does with her poetry in Soul Songs.
This book brilliantly displays many heart felt poems written by this talented authoress. I could feel the sand beneath my feet as I read the rich words that made up the poem "Footprints". Mist filled my eyes many times as I was gently pulled into the emotions of "Moments" and "When I Am Gone Away". As I turned each page I could smell the mountain air and feel the ocean spray against my cheeks. I felt like I was a silent observer of this woman's life and of the people that inspired her to create the beautiful words that she wove into such timeless treasures. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the delicate pleasure of creative poems that touch the heart and fill the mind with images of a place that only a magnificent poet can create. I will be purchasing a copy of this enthralling book and look forward to enjoying it time and time again. Great job Sandra and I look forward to seeing more of your talented work. Reviewed by T.A. This review is from: Subtle Expressions (Paperback)
Sandra G. Kelly is The Gentle Muse and Subtle Expressions is a journey into her Soul.
Poems such as "The Bravest Man I Know (A Fathers Tribute)", which evokes such intense emotion that it made this grown man cry, the truly Spiritual "Mother Earth" and the Magical "In The Forest" are reasons enough to buy this collection of beautiful verse, but perhaps more importantly, Sandra, in Subtle Expressions opens her heart and allows us a brief glimpse into her innermost feelings as she reflects upon the events that have shaped and influenced her life. Poetry books should not be kept on the bookshelf but on the coffee table and Subtle Expressions has surely earned the right to be at the top of the pile!!
