Most Important Punk Album of the Decade,
By Matthew_Ricketts (Chapel Hill, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Suburbanteenagewaste (Audio CD)
Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues is hands down one of the monolith albums of punk rock. I honestly can't think of a better album to represent the new school punk movement. This album has it all: Machine-gun drums, dueling guitars leads and power chord bliss, aggressive bass playing, and an in-your-face singer with more melodies than Top40 radio. There's absolutely no weak song on the album, and with this album, Strung Out has without a doubt set the standard for all other melodic-hardcore outfits.

I'm stoked to see that everyone else gives this 5 stars. 33 PERFECT reviews what else can you say? This is my favorite album of all time. While part of the reason might be the stage of life I was in when I first heard it and the memories it evoked, I am still able to listen to it today and enjoy it just as much. This is a prototype for what good punk music should be. So much talent here that it's hard to describe. The fast, thrashing guitars are able to mix perfectly with melody. Obviously there isn't even close to a bad song but my favorite is "Solitaire". Strung out is by far the most underestimated band around and people who write this off as 'same old stuff' should be shot. This is the best!

I really am speechless, ..Wasteland Blues is beyond words, it is to great. With a sound unlike anything I have ever heard ..wasteland Blues packs a mean punch, mixing Punk-rock with speed metal and creating a sound which makes you drool. Although, this album tends to lead more towards the punk-rock sound (which isn't a bad thing at all) than there furture releases, this is one of Strung out's best releases to date. Fast, melodic, and very talented ...Wasteland blues should be picked up if ever spotted.

#1 pop punk album,

I've spun this one many times. The energy, speed, attitude and creativity put into this is ... it's got me flabbergasted. Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues blows everyone out of the water, it can not be ignored nor topped. In fact the FAT label could drop all others bands and hang on this one alone. Quick fingered bassist, killer guitar tone, drummer has chops. Very forward and catchy. The punk album for every sunny day.(?) Stop your search here for thanks to Jake, Jason, Rob, Jim and Jordan the holy grail has been discovered. New intricacies heard upon every listen. Can't help but headbang, tap your foot, hand, sing or just go spastic. They came, they conquered. Now go to your local record store and order up a copy. Nuff said.

I saw Strung Out play will Pennywise in November and that was the first time I had ever heard their music but now I listen to it all the time. This CD is just awesome, every song gets the blood pumping and in fact I am listening to it right now and I sitll cant get enough of it. If you havent heard of them just check out one of their songs and you will want to get a hold of this CD. One of the best pure punk CD's I have ever listened to.

One word: Amazing.,

Wow. I just got this CD today, and it is 32 mins. 48 secs. of non-stop punk rock. This group is by far one of the most talented punk groups out there. This is one of my favs. because you can actually HEAR the bass guitar, and its not drowned out by the guitars. But dont worry, it is SO loud, your ears will try to run away from your punked up face. Fat Wreck Chords really helps out making this CD, and Fat Mike is the greatest. Lets give it up for them. Ok, now if you are into Pulley, Millencolin, Ten Foot Pole, or Pennywise, I highly recommend this for you. So buy this album, or show your respect at a concert. Be a part of the Punk Rock scene. And remember: Punk rock will never die!

Pretty much every review before this tells of how this album is simply amazing, and there really is not much more to add.
For the sake of keeping this simple, I must say that this record is amazing, and I was incredibly impressed. After skimming through the different Strung Out albums on Amazon, I decided to buy this one because it had the greatest reception. It will surely not disappoint. My personal favorite from this album is easily Bring Out Your Dead, but every other song is great also, and should not be ignored.

While I love Twisted by Design and American Paradox, I always come back to this album when I think of the best work that Strung Out has to offer. This is the album that made this band. Another Day in Paradise and The Skinny Years ... were good, but sound like crap when compared to this album. I've been a punk-rocker since I was pre-teen, I've gone to shows and played in shows, and I will tell you from experience that this is what every punk band wants to sound like. Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues sounds so good you could die without having heard another punk album and be satisfied. Enough said.

A Great Punk Album,
By

Being a pretty hardcore Strung Out fan, I was first introduced to their latest album, "Exile in Oblivion". I fell in love with the vocal stylings and mix of metal and punk in this group. After snatching up more of their older albums, I purchased "Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues" and was not at all disappointed. This record is fast, edgy, and as raw as good punk gets. It's a shining example of California punk back in the mid nineties. Favorite tracks include Firecracker, Solitaire, Gearbox, Monster, Bring Out Your Dead, Somnombalance, and Wrong Side of the Tracks (THE best track on the album I think). Any fan of punk rock should make a place in their collection for STWB.

More than just another punk album,
By Tom Puzak (Deephaven, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Suburbanteenagewaste (Audio CD)
This album has influenced me more than any other album. The lyrics and energy strike a cord with me each time I hear it, eloquent, raw, and loud. This band has found a way to bring melody and intelligence into hugh energy punk, and the result is an expressive, angry, beautiful work. If you like related music but have not heard this, go get it, this is still strung out's best album, although their newest album, American Paradox rivals it. I refuse to name a favorite songe because over the past four years I think nearly every song on this album has been my favorite at one time. Go see them live!
