Book Description

When a young teenager named Nate releases a lifetime of ingrained racist contempt in what should have been a harmless encounter, the aftermath of blood dripping from his fingers becomes the least of his problems.

After a typical boy’s day of roughhousing and exploration, Nate and his friends believe that this day will end like any other. Instead, their parents’ prejudices become their own, as a jolt of adrenaline catapults this motley crew from adolescent bullying into the darkness of bloody murder.

Faced with the consequences of their actions, terror replaces rational thought. The boys embark on a journey to cover up their crime and face a number of challenges that push them to the brink of sanity. Local bullies, a gas station clerk, and eventually the police test their fragile bonds of friendship.

Suburbians is a heart-thumping EmotoSingle thriller, full of twists and turns that thrust us into the darkest side of teenage hatred and rebellion. Nate’s ability to feel hope and peace may be forever lost, along with his youth.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Haunting Lyricism of Will Kosh June 11, 2012
By Meg K
Format:Kindle Edition
As my first experience into the realms of an Emotobook single, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect... but what you get is a short, bewitching tale that allows you to dip into a character's life and then step back into your own reality, slightly disturbed by what was just read. Kosh's fearless and vivid imagery lingers and keeps hands captive on whichever reading device, where even electronic pages cannot be turned quickly enough.

Suburbians delves into a group of angsty teens' lives, trying to get by in the hell that is suburbia, but also trying to survive a hell they have created for themselves in their unprecedented bullying mistake. I very much recommend this book for a quick, gripping read that exposes the haunting lyrical style and pure talent of the young author Will Kosh, but don't read it late at night, or the chains and the flames might chase you in the darkness...

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark and Intense July 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
At first, the timing and pace of Suburbians was confusing to me, but once I started to get a feel for this story, the disjointed nature of it's telling became an almost necessary element, sweeping you into a turbulent whirlpool that worked perfectly with the young protagonist's emotions. The writing was darkly poetic, intense and engaging, and even with the sparse dialog of typical teenagers, Kosh managed to define each boy quite well through thoughts and actions. The scenes were memorable and invoked vivid images in my mind, which in Suburbians case were deep and frightening. This book makes for a fast and fascinating read that will stay with you long after you've finished it.
