Editorial Reviews

Gifted singer and pianist Debbie Andrews was raised in Detroit in the middle of the turbulent '60's. When she was seven years old she began her study of classical piano. Her love for music as well as her skills increased over the years. A young Andrews impressed others enough with her talents that she earned a notable Jazz Fellowship Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. In the '70's, barely sweet sixteen, she landed her first big professional gig, appearing on Broadway in the nationally acclaimed musical HAIR. She played the role of Crissy singing "Frank Mills". Debbie's second solo release "Suburbs of Eden" is a follow up to her critically praised 1997 debut record "Surrounded By Windows." "Eden" is a collection of piano-based melodies and lyrics suffused with dream-like imagery. It is co-written with singer/songwriter Mike Blaxill. Appearing on the record are guitarist Dan Petty (Shawn Colvin), drummer Brian Delaney (David Clayton Thomas) and bassist Jeff Allen (Duncan Sheik). She continues to gain recognition for her talents with "Suburbs of Eden". Songwriters Monthly raves "...song structures, harmonies, changes and rhythms all scream for radio play... Dog on a Skylight has a special vibe". Muzikman.com said her songs are "...very powerful and reach you in many ways through the diversity and flexibility of the music and the outstanding lyrical content." Debbie released "Relic" in 2002 and "Stand" in 2004 with her band Gladshot with whom she performs and writes, founded with her "Eden" co-writer Blaxill. Their songs have been featured on the WB show "Jack & Jill" and Fox's "Higher Ground" as well as numerous indie film and artist projects.
