German Metalcore,
By HYBRID_ARTIST (FT. LAUDERDALE, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Subversive Blueprint (Audio CD)
Coming off like a collision of Hatebreed,Deftones, and Poison the Well having been locked in a cage and tortured for months, the four man german wrecking crew that are The Destiny Program come out swinging and primed to brown the underwear of those of a weaker disposition.from the moment titanic drums kick off opener "The Personal Revolution",the band gets up in your face and stays there, practically daring you to fight back.To their credit, they employ a wide arsenal in their attempt to crush everything in their way.the unfettered belligerence of "the appeal" is pedal to the metal brutality, all chugging guitars and bilious roars, while "dreva" is built on an utterly threatening midtempo riff that is all the more ominous in that it feels like they are struggling to rein in the fury that is trying to escape. The opening chords of "Escape the Living Plan" perhaps bare a little too much resemblance to Deftones "Pink Maggit",but, for the most part, while their influences are obvious, they steer clear of merely copying their forebears. With so many banal bands driving the life out of Metalcore lately,it's heartening to hear something that throws a few curveballs and reminds you just how devastatingly powerful the genre can be when in the right hands.
