Classic Qualities, Still Relevant Today, July 11, 2002
Lester Korn's work is as relevant today, with few exceptions, as it was 12 years ago. He effectively integrates executive lessons (or stories) of career building in this manuscript with Korn / Ferry sponsored research studies conducted by major universities.
I believe the "changing industry" and "out of work" sections are slightly less accurate in reflecting today's market for talent (but STILL quite valid to the job change process)in 2002. In my opinion, outside of the two topical exceptions noted above, he is very much on the mark with all of his advice.
There is nothing glib about the counsel contained in this book. It is targeted at the up and comers potentially headed to boardrooms, but there is advice for any career concerned individual in this book (including entry level employees). The "contents" pages very accurately portray the topics discussed (no disappointing vagueness or diversions. Scan the contents and you have the book.
Mr. Korn has done a service to both the search industry and workers at large in constructing this book.

Very important career advice, April 1, 2005
Lester Korn, of the recruiting firm that bares his name, lays out career advice for people looking to get into senior positions.
The book contains a very high level of intellectual honesty - how many headhunters would suggest NOT jobhunting is the best long term advice? Indeed - his suggestion that "one big move" is the best way to long term advancement is both counter-intuitive and against his own self interest.
Definitely a great read that has survived the test of time. It would be interesting to read an updated version with modern data, but perhaps that is asking too much.
