This book is good for people who have the basics of selling online down. They know how to list an auction, take pictures, etc. It will give you the best advice I've seen yet on pricing your items, buying low, selling high. Pictures, price and title are everything, when it comes to selling. I'm an experienced seller on eBay and I found this book lacking for those of us who have figured out most of what is in the book. I wish I had the book two years ago. Recommended for advanced beginners. Experienced sellers may pick up a few pointers. I found contradictions in the book all over the place. There is so much more to selling than this book has to offer. For the price, it's worth it for those just getting their feet wet to avoid buying merchandise that is too highly priced to sell. Not worth it for sellers with more experience. Enough though for beginning sellers with the basics down. I do recommend the book, ... and liked it better than, "Starting an eBay Business for Dummies", but left wanting more that I know they could have disclosed!

I wish I would have read this book three years ago when I was just beginning to sell on eBay because I learned everything the hard way (by my own mistakes) but as an experienced eBay seller I did NOT learn anything new from reading this book. For novices and beginners !

I ordered this book from ... based on the reviews here. Having never seen it before, I wasn't sure what to expect. To my
delight, this book was exactly what I was looking for! I am not
new to ..., having been a part of the community for a little over a year now. I wasn't looking for a how to use ... book,
I needed a book to help me sell. This book does that. It gives
you all the inside tips and strategies of top sellers so that you can market your items like a pro. If you are a powerseller, you
probably don't need this book. But for the rest of us who are either new to ebay selling or trying to get to the next level, this is the book to buy! Its full of suggestions for everything from picture taking to how to spice up your description for your item (honestly!). The book even tells you how to find out what to spend on purchases for resale, and gives you places to find items to purchase. The book isn't alot of pages, but it is alot of information for the person who really wants to improve their listings and their ... earnings. I can't recommend it highly enough! I started reading it, and I just couldn't put it down!
I just started selling a month ago and I did ok, but now I can see where I can improve and really start watching my bids soar!
I could easily have earmarked every page in this book! If you are serious about selling on e-bay and want to get the maximum bid for your items, don't miss out on this book! Buy it now!

I have read several books related to online auctions and most of them contain mainly generalized information. Most of these books are like a beginners introduction to online auctions - full of basic info you can get online. If you are interested in making money with online auctions, this is the book to get. I was skeptical but this book delivered the goods. Steven Yang's Success Secrets of Online Auction Selling is exactly what the title says it is. It is an Insiders' Guide to the world of Online Auction selling.

It's no secret that Online Auctions are enabling thousands of people to quit their dreaded jobs and develop their own home-based businesses. Being successful with Online Auctions requires a wide range of skills and knowledge. This book addressed and answered most of my questions regarding the Online Auction business. This book goes into deep detail in regards of how and where to purchase antiques and collectibles for resale. Even more importantly this book goes into explaining some very clever techniques for getting the highest possible closing price for your goods. I typically sell in the $500 - $1,000 range and can honestly say that the techniques described in this book enabled me to earn much more than the cost of this book several times over with my first sale.

This book does contain some basic information as to not talk down to beginners but overall is an excellent investment. Steven Yang also has an Online Auction organizer and Ledger system that I use and recommend extensively. Check it out and good luck!

When I first recieved my package I was suprised to find out
how light it was. A total of 97 pages including the index and other worthless info, this book is anything but informative.
Granted it does give the amount of pages in the listing, and
it is quality instead of quanity I am looking for, but this
book does not deliver on either. If you have any experience
on ebay and are looking to expand your knowlege, Go elsewhere.
Oh and by the way $30 !!! for nothing.

If you try and ask experienced Online Auction sellers and antique dealers questions regarding how they purchase stuff to sell, don't even bother because most of them won't tell you anything. This book really spills the beans! This book is the kind of book that veteran dealers and sellers hate. It's hard to believe with all the get rich quick scams out there but this book is for real. The first thing you will learn with this book is that making money with Online Auctions is no get rich quick scheme. However, online auctions have become a bonafide vehicle for thousands of normal working people to escape the 9 to 5 grind. I've applied several of Steven Yang's techniques and low and behold, I'm making serious money online! I quickly corrected several of the mistakes I have been making with my listings and now I'm generating bids and selling like crazy.

Once you learn how to correctly draft your listings, the hardest part is finding quality stuff to sell. This book offers up all the sneaky tricks dealers are using to get to the good stuff. It's a bit of a rat race but if you are willing to hustle you can get in on a piece of the action!

There's a couple of chapters geared towards beginners that I mostly skipped over but for the large part, this book delivers the goods. I'd recommend it mostly for intermediate sellers who are comfortable with the fundamentals.

Though a slim volume, Steven Yang's "Sucess Secrets of Online Auction Selling" paid me back many times over for the outlay of its purchase price. Anyone can use Ebay successfully after the tutorials online, but there is gold in this book that can boost auction sales by quite a bit. If every one of your auctions gained a modest ten percent from hints here, how well could you do? You tell me.

Here are some of the specific hint areas that helped me:

1. How to buy antiques and collectibles and how to watch out for fakes.
2. Proper shipping techniques (oh, please, please learn how to do this right. The number of boxes I've gotten with fragile items thrown in willy-nilly and in shards is just ridiculous. ) Having to go process insurance claims is a time-waster for buyer and seller.
3. Pricing to sell--are you losing money by being too greedy? Or are you losing money by leaving it on the table?
4. How to write the auction to create a sense of urgency and desirability--and how to take effective pictures and use HTML to show your auction to best advantage.
5. How to negotiate when buying your inventory, and some resources to find inventory
6. Practical examples of "do's" and "don't" in actual auction pictures and descriptions to show you what works and what doesn't work (excellent-my absolutely favorite part.)

If you buy on Ebay, just sell your garage junk or if you are thinking of starting an Ebay business, I can't recommend this book highly enough. It may seem simple and obvious, but this little handbook is really a big help.

I found "Success Secrets" to be incredibly helpful, even for someone like me who only occassionally uses online auctions. Now that I have read this book I know all the things I should have done, and will do differently next time. This book is loaded with hints and tips about every aspect of selling, and the pictures and graphics are really helpful. A fun read, this book is a must have for anyone involved in online auctions, at any level!

"Success Secrets" is terrific - even for someone like me, a novice seller. It has all the ins and outs of online auctions. I picked up so many tips and hints from this book. I know now all the things I should have done - and will do differently next time - to make the most of my online sales. The level of detail about all subjects relating to selling, and the very useful pictures and graphics, make this a must have, certainly for someone aspiring to full-time selling, but also for the once-in-a-while seller. A great title, even a necessity, for anyone involved with online auctions. And a fun read, too!
