Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars,
By Burnedagain the Great (Louisville, Ky.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
I bought this book for my wife but after having looked at it I should have bought some flowers instead.
The book was bilge water but for those who watch the gurus of e-marketing the classic formula for e-book selling has been followed to the letter. Really great ad copy to move the book (sell the sizzle not the steak) and use the book as a thinly veiled advertisement pushing the products of all the gurus who "generously" supplied content. For the unititiated I would suggest this. Go to each of the websites of those marketers mentioned in the book or the teaser copy. What you will find is the same names popping up on all of the different websites. This is because they each act as an endorsement for the others product. Go to Mitch's website and you will see the "usual suspects" endorsing this book as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then go to one of their's and you will find Mitch endorsing their product as the greatest thing since sliced bread. It takes a while to spot the mechanics but before to long you to will learn the secrect too cross-plugging and expert endorsements for fame and fortune. It reminds me a little of the old Shakesperian acting troupes where the same five or six actors toured together. In each play it was the same actors only playing different parts. I also suspect that those who have provided glowing reviews are either new to this game or are schmoozing for an endorsement of their own product by one of the big fish. Bottom line- save your money. And remember how this game works the next time you get one of those "You've just got to see this" emails touting a new product from one of the "usual suspects". This is how you take dishwater and turn it into an overnight best seller. Which ever one of these guys who's turn it is to shear the sheep this month simply has the other guys who are waiting their turn at bat blast their mail list with a glowing revue and a "to good to resist" offer. The groupies and the newbies fork out the shekels enmasse while the gurus begin work on their sheep shearing best seller.

The author interview several internet marketing gurus specialized in different areas of internet marketing. The discussions were briefly touched on different area of internet marketing. REALLY BRIEFLY !!! This book is for someone who already in internet marketing for a while and use as a checklist. For a internet beginner to read it, everything sounds great in this book because they don't know any better. Don't waste your money on this. This is a freaking poor-designed frontend product for other coaching service or bigger product. If you truly want to learn internet marketing, go buy " The Ultimate Guide to Electronic Marketing for Small Business" by Tom Antion or Corey Rudl's Insider Secret Hope this helps CT Huang [...]

comprehensive and informative...let's hope it's not a gimick.,

I bought this book on a whim not having read any reviews. I wanted to brush up on what the experts in the Marketing field were doing with their companies to be successful and grow at the same pace as the internet. And, I have been able to do that with this book. It's comprehensive, easy to read, and goes a little beyond the whole "you should do this" in theory and tries to show the reader how to apply the concepts to real-life scenarios.
I wouldn't equate this to a Marketing 101 class -- it's basic, yes, however I think you need to have more than just a surface level understanding of the marketing platforms they discuss to get the most out of the book: blogs, copy writing, developing lists, branding, affiliate marketing, product development, coaching, etc. Each contributing writer has his own business and they don't hold back from assertively yet not too aggressively selling you on their product or service. It gets to be borderline annoying, however if the multitude of resources they outline in the book are really of quality (I haven't checked any out yet), it's worth it for the person who is seriously going to set up shop online. Otherwise, the book is a little more than a gimick to make money off the aspiring entrepreneur. Bottom line, the book is a quick read and worth the purchase and time for a person who has adequate marketing background and wants more than just a basic "to-do" checklist for setting up a business and understanding what drives online sales and brand loyalty. When the time comes to put in the legwork and go live, all the information and resources they provide will become useful to do things right. But, to do it right and learn from these experts we have to do the homework they leave us with...

Really Gets You Thinking...,
By Sara (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
This is a solid book worthy of a read. There are very good tips, tricks, and ideas, but you will have to wade through the different authors promoting their own services/products to get to the core theories.
I really found this book got me thinking about the ways I market my business online and, that alone, has made it well worth the purchase price. At times I did think it was repeating things from the first marketing course I ever took in school years ago, but a little refresher never hurt. I recommend checking out some of Seth Godin's works in this area, since those are equally if not more insightful.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
As an owner of a large Real Estate web site, I needed information on how to promote and gain ground with search engines. I found the section on setting up a blog, to be really informative. In addition the book pointed out the importance of news feeds and how they help in search engine positioning. In conclusion, I found the book to be a bargain and full of good content.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
First, if I could, I would rank this as 3 1/2 stars but was not able to do so.
What the previous reviewer, "Burned again.." says is true enough; a good percentage of this book is repetitive or useless drivel and joint venture back slapping. This book is in fact a co-authored type of thing where each contributor offers up their own "expertise"; whether actual or imagined. They hype their own businesses and cross promote with the others. True enough. And yes, most everyone talks about the success of their own "ebook" and what it has done for them. Clearly the ebook is their favorite method of promotion as well as product to sell. Still there is good and bad to be found here: Before you buy this book, you should know that each of these marketers are involved with the same niche market. They all offer up business advice to other businesses and entrepreneurs. They may be authors, coaches, seminar speakers, or consultants, but they are all coming from the same niche. Explains why they all got together to co-write this book. Also explains their love affair with the e-book. Much of what they write is repetitive, and frequently calling these guys "superstars" is a bit ridiculous because they are frequently small fish in a big pond. These are not the guys doing Amazon.com's marketing. Just reading about some of their credentials and successes should bring the words, "that's not that big of a thing" to your mind. But then, that is not who they are looking to sell to or looking to help. This is a book for small businesses. As for the content itself, yes there are problems with it. They are often-times repetitive in their advice and worse yet, at times promise to reveal one thing, yet divert to something else, failing to deliver on their promise. All of that being said, I did find value in this book. My own company sells products on the web, not downloadable ebooks. I am a basic level retailer. I offer products and ship them out. At first glance, this book has very little to relate to my niche. However, as I progressed through the book, I was able to glean bits and pieces that were thought provoking and excellent ideas that I could adapt and apply to my own business. For me and for my business, most of the early chapters were drivel, the later chapters were for more valuable. I look forward to adapting and implementing a number of these ideas and concepts into my own business. Take the info here for what it is worth. Know going in, that the links and references given are all to the same guys, all with a vested interest in self and cross promotion. That being said, you can take the concepts, and do your own searches for things like blog software, RSS feed software and news aggregators, email programs, list management, etc. and find what you are looking for. Going to the links provided in this book will no doubt start to cost you big bucks in a very short time. In a nutshell, this is not a one-stop fix-it solution; but in reality, what is? They are not taking your hand and stepping you through every little turn in the road. But from a viewpoint of generating ideas you can possibly apply to you own situation, I was glad that I read it.

This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
It's just advertising all these online superstars, nothing more. Very general advices. They say "Oh, yeah, you should do THIS, and you are all set." But then... How EXACTLY do I do this??? There's n
info on that. So for those who need something practical, skip this book. At least I borrowed it from the library. I would be pissed if I paid!

Overview of internet marketing options,
By
This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
There is a trend recently for books to be created from articles written by others. One problem I have with these types of books is that articles often don't have the details I'd expect to find in a book. This book offers more details than most, but I would still categorize it for the newcomer to online marketing. It covers copywriting basics as well as other online marketing tactics such as pay-per-click, eBay, audio, automation, and web 2.0.

One Stop Shopping for Internet Marketing Strategies that Work,

This review is from: Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars (Paperback)
For the last few years I've been searching the Internet for specific information on how to make money online. At best, the information is confusing and contradictory. I'm so glad I finally found Online Marketing Superstars - I was amazed to find all the information I need in one book.
Online Superstars is a compilation of all the Big Names in Internet Marketing - the folks who are really making the money. They have generously shared tips and strategies in this book that I have not found anywhere else. And I feel like I can trust what they say because these are the people that so many others reference. This book goes into detail about how to get traffic to my website, how to write copy that makes people want to purchase my products, how to set up email campaigns that bring in even more money and so much more. It's amazing that all this information is in one place. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is trying to get started online or trying to improve their results and make even more money. 5 Stars with no hesitation.
