4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reminders of things we really already know August 28, 2010

This is an excellent book. Like so many business effectiveness books, if you really consider what you are hearing, it is mostly motherhood and apple pie, but the author does an excellent job of making most chapters an "Ah-Ha" moment. Well written, crisply delivered and some really good messages. I finished it an afternoon and it was well worth the (initially looked expensive) price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good November 10, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased two other books (Kindle) from the same author (I am a professional speaker in Brazil) and before I read them I found this one and decided to begin with it. It is very practical and easy to read, like any presentation should be. The book itself might be your best lesson on how to communicate your ideas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff March 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There's a lot of great and helpful info in these short essays! Although written mainly for those in the business field, it would be nice for others (anyone who speaks or gives presentations)to read and practice some of the skills presented here: how the audience's eye travels on a visual presentation, how to catch your audience's attention at the start of a speech, how to think of your audience and their needs when trying to persuade them.

I teach speech class to high school kids and found/was reminded of helpful things to tell my students.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can't remember this book
So maybe that is what makes it so note-worthy. I am not saying it is good or bad, just trying to get my review score up.

2.0 out of 5 stars not what I wanted
This didn't have the kind of information that I expected. It was more for professional meetings rather than personal communicational skills and insight. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Good lessons
I read this from cover to cover, so to speak, and found it to be a valuable tool. Many of the lessons are common sense but it still gives good pointers of successful communication. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Another viewpoint.
Good enough...but doesn't have a Table of Contents. Not sure I agree with everything the author(s
says.
But it represents another viewpoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some New, Some Review, All Good
The book has a lot of information that I either already knew from experience or had learned from others. However, this information is good and it is presented in a good format. Read more
