5.0 out of 5 stars Author's knowledge and experience unparalleled
I would turn to no other expert in the field of autism. De Boer has proved herself once again with this comprehensive guide to inclusion. This volume should be in every classroom and library in the country. Our special children just got a huge leg up.

5.0 out of 5 stars What we need!, June 13, 2009
This review is from: Successful Inclusion for Students with Autism: Creating a Complete, Effective ASD Inclusion Program (Jossey-Bass Teacher) (Paperback)
This book provides a terrific foundation AND all the necessary details for working with students with autism! Each chapter outlines important features for all parties involved and the forms are out of this world. I have not found this kind of detail in any other book and each form allows for the user to think carefully through ALL the elements that lead to successful inclusion. Congrats on a user friendly, high-powered tool!!!

Finally, a guide for professionals on inclusion for children with autism in the general education classroom!

de Boer is an expert in her field with a PhD in Special Education focusing on working with children with autism, and many years of one on one and classroom experience working with this population. In recent years she worked as Director of Early Intervention Services at the University of Washington Autism Center in Seattle, WA.

This excellent publication reflects her deep practical experience in the field and includes a wealth of checklists and very practical "how to" guides to create, from scratch, an inclusion program at your school or school district.

I also know from experience that de Boer is an excellent trainer and is personally available to guide your administrators, teachers, paraeducators and parents through the process of creating your own inclusion program at your school.

5.0 out of 5 stars A user-friendly must for teachers!, April 15, 2009
This review is from: Successful Inclusion for Students with Autism: Creating a Complete, Effective ASD Inclusion Program (Jossey-Bass Teacher) (Paperback)
This is such a user-friendly tool! It would not matter if the teacher had little experience teaching these children or lots of experience! It has so many step-by-step instructions that are easy to use and helpful no matter what stage one is in serving special children with autism. And, though it is intended for use with children with autism, it has so many behavioral techniques that would be great for all children. Loved the text boxes!!

I have seen this author in action at conferences and training seminars and know her to be very experienced and passionate about her work with children with autism. This book will be a great resource to educators and parents alike, especially with all the checklists and worksheets she includes in the book to aid you on your journey with these students. If you work with children with autism, you need this book!
