Book Description

July 15, 2002
A strong emphasis is placed on establishing a clear understanding of the complex interaction between materials, process, mold and part design and how injection molding simulation can be used to evaluate this interaction. The author provides a clear understanding and guides the reader on how to minimize development risks and time to market while maximizing productivity and quality of injection molded plastic parts.

By providing full color simulation output, animated filling analysis, and practical data collection forms for product development on the free CD-Rom, the author emphasizes the practical importance of this book - an invaluable resource for every injection molding practitioner.

Successful Injection Molding gives comprehensible explanations on the best ways to utilize simulation in the design of injection molded parts and the tools they are molded from and provides proper application of these tools and the proper interpretation of their results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, December 22, 2008

This review is from: Successful Injection Molding: Process, Design, and Simulation (Hardcover)
I am mechanical engineer and this book is all you need to make plastic molding. This is a technical book and you require knowlege about mechanics (tensile strenght, finite element, Share Stress, flow, etc).

The book is well documented and take you step by step. Finally the book close using Finite element software to calcultate the process of platic molding. The problem (relative) that this software could be expensive and there is not trial demos. But if you have it or you can model your problem and solve the equations you are done.

When i started to read this book i can not design or construct a molding, when i finished it i can design, construct, evaluate and also cost a mold. I also review 5 other books of plastic molding design and they are so empiric; if you desire a technical book supported by mechanical engineering and you have the knowledge to understand and then apply it do not hesitate to go for this book. Remember a mold takes it price because there is engineering on it.

This is sure to be the best book in your reference collection. As a former student of John Beaumont's, I have learned a tremendous amount about the plastics industry from that book.
